On December 14, I contacted Elite Moving Company & Storage LLC becasue I was interested in moving to Arizona around August 2020 once I find an apartment and a teaching job. I was told that by me making an early down payment that I would save money.
Moving long distance is expensive, so I heard the moving price was going to be around 1,200 dollars. I thought was getting a good deal. I talked to the person for about an hour. The person was very friendly. I was informed that I could make three payments instead of paying all at once. I recevied an e-mail with an inventory list for me to fill out.
I told by the company to fill out the inventory list about three months before I am ready to move. I was informed by another fellow moving company that Elite Moving Company & Storage LLC does not deal with the moves directly. Elite Moving Company & Storage LL hires brokers. This means to make the most money, they use a truck that is needs to be filled out to the fullest capacity with your items and other people items.
The company charges by distance not by weight. Three days later I called the company to request a refund by phone. To find out if a moving company hires brokers go to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and type the company U.S DOT#, State, and Service Center. I kept calling and leaving messages for a week. I was told to call after New Years.
I hired elite moving company and storage company to moving my house for me. They waited till they had my personal items to tell me that it'll be up to two weeks for me to get my items back. Them they said it'll be up to 2 weeks for me to get my items back from the drop off date. Every time i call them They say i don't know when we can return your items. Or well call you back and let you know, and they dont call me back. I want my stuff back.
Original estimate was 5,300 total bill is now over 11,000. When I questioned the charges, I was informed I supplied incorrect information. My reply was that i answered all questions ask of me, along with naming all items to be moved, room by room. Then their rep (Marie) went into a continuous loop, repeating the original answer. They have the leverage of being in possession of my belongings. I'll pay and sue to recover my monies and for unfair practices.
