I arranged to purchase what appeared to be a Fender Precision Bass Made in Mexico (MIM) with a Mighty Mite Neck from Mr. Sherwood. Price stated was $350 and the Seller felt it was a "Beast of a Bass". No Shipping Cost at the time was discussed. To make a long story short there was a considerable delay and disagreement over shipping and there was a LOT of complaining done by Mr. Sherwood about the cost to him due he would be unable to afford another instrument if he had to eat the shipping. Shipping was finally paid bu the Buyer and Bass was sent.
Bass arrived about 5 days later in a box without a gig bag that appears to have been packaged by a first time shipper using only cellulose wadding as a protectant with no support to the instrument what so ever. The Bass was in really poor condition; the body of the instrument appeared to have been broken up and then glued back together in 4-5 places and then painted with a roller and the pickguard (missing about 1/3rd of the screws) has been painted with a spray can.
The neck of the instrument has what appeared to be old superficial to moderately deep cracks and a reasonable amount of finish damage. Even though the cracks appear questionably stable they remove any value it had. Tuner Clover sections were all loose, two where bent. I've been able to verify that the instrument does have CTS potentiometers and will assume that the Pickup is actually a Fender MIM. It does have a Bad-a*s Bridge on it that was worth about $70, which is probably the only item of any real value on the Guitar.
I've purchased dozens of instruments over the internet during the last 15 years years and this was the first time I feel like something was completely mis-represented and unfortunately, there is no way to rate anyone on Facebook. The Body on this is so bad the only thing it's worth anything for is Fire Wood. Sadly, the purchase was based on poor photos and so my company will end up having to eat the loss. But I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ANYONE to never buy anything through Facebook and due I was soooo badly burned if you are involved in a Transaction with this person make sure you very carefully inspect and play anything this individual has for sale prior to exchanging money.
