Ebook Bike Reviews

  • Mar 10, 2019

The website ebook.Bike is an ebook piracy website. This website offers authors to upload an electronic version of their books so that visitors to the website can download them for free. The problem is, once you upload your book, you no longer have any control over the book whatsoever.

My sister recommended this website because she had been using it for years. She was under the impression that authors who uploaded their books had complete control over how many times their books could be downloaded and for how long they could be downloaded. Her experience with such websites was primarily with amazon.com which allows authors who self publish their books the opportunity to allow their books to be available for a short period of time to readers for free.

I had written several fiction novels which are self published on amazon. I was hoping to promote my book through ebook.Bike as i had been doing on amazon where i had complete control over my books. On amazon, i coujld offer a book for free download for a period of 5 days. I could remove the book from amazon at any time because i am the author, i own the copyrights, and i am given complete control of my books myself.

I decided to upload my book, blind terror to ebook.Bike. There is a page on that website that allows you to drag and drop your epub book into a text box. For days i agonized over whether or not i should upload the book. I saw no "submit" button or "next" button on that webpage that would allow me to go to another step in the process as is the case on amazon. My sister swore to me that this was a legitimate website where i could set the number of days that a book could be made available for download. At least, that was what others had told her who had recommended the site to her.

I uploaded my book by draging the epub file into the text box on the upload page of the website. When i did this, i expected a ndw page to automatically load or a button to appear or some other action to take place where i could set the number of days the book would be available for download, but nothing happened. I then decided that this was a dangerous situation for an author and tried to delete the book from uploading. The problem was, there was no means to stop the upload or delete the book once i had dragged the epub file from my computer into that text box.

Upon discovering that i had no been scammed, i immediatley sent an email to the email address shown on the website, [email protected] and demandd that they remove my book immediately since i had no way of doing so myself. I asked the question as to how i could restrict the number of times that my book could be downloaded. The owner, a mr. Travis mccrea responded by answering my question that the website didn't operate that way. Basically he politely informed me that my sister was misinformed.

I emailed mr. Mccrea back and demanded that he remove my book permanently and immediately but he did not do so nor did he even reply to my email request. Since then i have emailed him four times demanding that he remove my book. I have contacted his website hosting company asking for their assistance but have gotten no reply from them.

My book is still on that website and not only can someone download the epub version of it but they can also download a text file version which can be easily edited and marketed as their own book. I learned through research that this website is a pirate website that has no intention of removing any book once it has been uploaded. They give no disclosuers to authors who are considering to upload their work. The require no author or user registration before a book is uploaded. They give authors no means to control their own book once it is uploaded. And they will not answer emails from an author who wishes to have their book removed.

There are no records being maintained by the website on who is downloading these books. There is no support from the website hosting company whatsoever. Basically any author who uploads a book to this webite is screwed because they have absolutely no control whatsoever over their work. This pirate website needs to be shut down for their gross and intentional copyright infringement of author's works.

Not only did mr. Mccrea make my book available for free and endless downloads, he went out on the internet and located my personal author website and downloaded the books cover image and description and put them up on his website because his website doesn't even allow an author to do that when they have a book uploaded. So he's violated my copyrighted material on my personal website by stealing a copy of the books cover and description.

I jsut want scamion to become a permanent record of this flagrant violation of us and canadian copyright laws so that perhaps other authors are not harmed as i have now been harmed.
