This was a result of a phishing expedition when I had some computer difficulties in September this year due to my firewall having been turned off. I thought I was accessing the Apple.com site.
The EasySoftTeh.us document was for $499.00 and electronically signed on 09/23/2016. Like a fool I provided my bank account information because I was too panicked to read the full document to see that the company is not affiliated with Apple.
Yesterday I received a call saying that my IP address was compromised. Once again, like a fool, I allowed the representative to access my computer. After the computer was “scrubbed” of malware, I was told that I had to pay $100 through their program to Apple to register the IP for one year against future hacks. I kept telling the representative that I wasn’t in a position to pay money to Apple for anything. The representative said again that I didn’t understand. I repeated that I understood and still did not want to pay the additional money. We went through this at least three times. I thought that he finally understood my position and agreed to respect my directions. About two hours after the call ended I received confirmation that my credit card was charged $100.00 by Apple.
Don't be a fool like I was. Don't get trapped into providing any personal information. You will live to regret it.
