East Coast Moving And Storage Reviews

My husband and I hired East Coast Moving & Storage on October 3rd after receiving a phone estimate for our move from McKinney TX to Las Vegas NV on October 30, 2017 of $1,999 and we paid a deposit of $300. The estimate included 30 days of free storage of our household goods. The week of October 23rd I called the Sales Representative (Mark) to express concern that the estimate provided was too low. After consideration, he revised the estimate to $2,600 which we agreed to.

On the day of the move, October 30, 2017 the movers to pick up our household goods and the minute the driver, Wade walked into our home, he immediately stated that our move had been underestimated and he would have to recalculate. He came back to us with an estimate of $5,692 - more than double the revised estimate! Since we had to be our of the house the next day, we had no option but to agree to this and we paid an additional $1,500 that day.

Once we had returned to Las Vegas, we were contacted by East Coast Moving & Storage at the end of October to determine a delivery date and we explained that our house was not ready yet, so asked for another month of storage. We were told that the storage fee per month would be $975 (1300 cu ft * 75 - $975 per month) and were referred to a Post Contract Services Order Form that was blank! A storage unit large enough to store our goods would cost approximately $400 - $500 per month. East Coast Moving are charging double that amount! My husband and I are retired senior citizens and cannot afford to pay for our household goods to be delivered - an additional cost of $3,891.80 in addition to the $975 per month storage. East Coast Moving are basically holding our household goods for ransom.

Stay away from these people. They will give you a lowball quote to get your business and then double the charge once your stuff is on the truck. Totally unprofessional and unresponsive to customer concerns. They damaged my piano, stole my bike, lost a bunch of items and took no responsibility for any of it. Claims process is a bad joke. These people are crooks

I did an online quote for several companies at one time , east coast moving and storage called me, with the lowest quote, I was moving from Dallas Texas to Lynchburg Virginia and was looking to leave by Wednesday afternoon. well when the sales rep called they said that they were delivering on Tuesday and that the truck would be headed back this way on Wednesday so it came out perfectly. so I went over the inventory they quoted me a price it was reasonable and they said the deposit would be 400 and then when the driver got there you'd give them 30% and at the end we would pay the remainder. so I went ahead and locked in the deal paid the 400 off of my checking account that was on the Sunday afternoon. so Tuesday night gets here I get a call from the driver himself saying that he took a job in Houston and it's taking longer than expected so he would be there Wednesday night I said no problem and then Wednesday morning he called me and said that he still wasn't done with the job for Houston and it would be Thursday morning okay. well the landlord he told me I had until Thursday at noon to leave so on Thursday morning he calls me and tells me he can probably do it either Friday night or Saturday morning. at this point he had rescheduled three different times so I lost it and I told him I have to be out by noon today. so I went to budget and rented me, my own truck that cost a $550 loaded it up myself with the help of my family of course and we left at 1 we get to Lynchburg August 5th.

I called the company and cannot reach him I called him 20 times in one day and cannot reach her and then on the 6th I finally get a hold of the "customer service manager" Reggie. He tells me that he will put in my claim to the dispatcher who does all of the refund checks and that they will cut the check on a Friday cuz that's when they cut the checks. one Friday comes and goes I called them oh I can't find your file so I called back on next Monday same thing checks were cut on Friday this went on for 3 weeks. 1 week Reggie told me that the woman who had been in charge of cutting the checks has been closing file saying that they were paid and there was account from November that hadn't gotten their refund check so that that woman was fired and they were in the middle of training a new person that things would get handled it. so I wait a few days and call him back and they tell me that check for cut on Friday and I went off I told them I hear this every week for the past 4 weeks and you still have nothing for me. unforeseen events have came up and I had to leave the house and Lynchburg Mo to Beckley West Virginia and I keep calling and keep calling them even now and nothing are you got the wrong number or your number has been disconnected or some other crap. I've emailed them I have texted the driver I've texted the sales rep that originally called me ,I've called and left messages and no returned reply, I don't know what world they live in but $400 is needed it's a lot of money so I definitely would advise you to keep looking, no matter how reasonable the price they quote you

I spoke with a sales rep who gave a quote that was agreed upon after items to be moved were described over the phone. An e-contract was signed and a deposit paid. Subsequently, I sent pictures and an itemized list prior to the move. At no time did the rep say that the movers may give another price at the site. He said he would be accessible during the move. He was not.

The movers did not arrive prepared to do the job for which they were hired (only 2 people showed when at least 3 were required - the contract clearly stated a baby grand piano was to be moved and even the manager said "we never move one without at least 3 people") and insisted on more money to complete the job. No assistance came from the rep or the management after repeated attempts to contact them to remedy.

After 2 hours with no contact with the company we said they should leave as they were not able to do the job; the driver finally spoke with his dispatcher and he said he would reduce the price a bit from the second quote given by the driver and somehow get other people out there to complete the move. This would have taken significantly more time (estimate another 6 hours to completion) to be finished at approximately 10:30 at night. This was unacceptable, especially given my parents are senior citizens and the whole event up to that point was exceedingly stressful.

They did not complete the job for which they were hired and they were underhanded about the entire process. Their customer service is abominable. The sales rep assured me that it would be no problem to get the deposit back. The manager refused. They claimed they had an A+ rating from bbb. I see now that they are being reviewed. Please don't let anyone else suffer through their schemes.

We are downsizing (Maryland) and wanted to ship some furniture to our daughter in New Hampshire. Our experience with East Coast moving and Storage was awful.

We were told (the night before via communication from them to our daughter, who scheduled this move) that the move was to take place on Thursday. They never showed up. When we called, they said the move was scheduled for Friday. The problem is that the office people (Chicago) don’t know what the movers are doing, so they got it dead wrong and my wife had to take an extra day off from work because of their mistake.

READ the fine print, especially if you are shipping to another person in a distant locale. There are lots of extra fees that get tacked on. (Flights and Stairs Carry, Shuttle Service, etc.)

Before inspecting or touching our stuff, they spread out all the papers for signature. The “Interstate Revised Written Estimate” (which we had never seen before) had increased by $300 based on an increase in cubic feet of our stuff, which they had yet to measure. When questioned about it, they relented and the original estimate of costs was restored.

They showed up with an 18 wheeler to a tiny rural home with a long driveway, and wouldn’t drive it back to our house. The man said they could have brought another truck, and that getting one “now” would cost the same as the “long carry fees”. They charge $70 for each extra 50 feet of carrying. It cost us an extra $697 to get our stuff on the truck! This massive truck issue is in their fine print, so ask about what truck is picking up as well as delivering your stuff.

So, in short, this mover comes in with a low estimate, and then nickel and dimes you to death. They could easily look at Google maps to see the appropriatness of arriving with an 18 wheeler, but they don’t. They could tell you the day before what kind of truck they are bringing, but they don’t. They wasted our time and money. I strongly suggest not using this company.

East Coast Movers mislead with rate of 1800.00 and once the movers were at my door and after the load the rate went to 3000.00. at that time no longer would the sales man call and the manager Julian said that Larry did not need to speak with me.

He was the fast talker that informed me not to worry its like a death when your parting with your belongings and so forth.

Please beware of this company. I am so serious about exposing them until I am going to the news media/Better Business Bureau/ whatever it takes I am not stopping until I can get to speak with the owners or president of the company.
