EarthLink, LLC. Reviews

I tried to get internet from comcast and they tried to scam me so I called Earthlink. All the people who answer are from India. They talk 90 miles an hour. They claim that they are the best. They demand you pay them with your bank card and that they will be allowed to take out money monthly for the bill not letting you pay the bill.

They charge you 80 dollars for installation and they claim that they will call you in two days to give you the installation date. so two days later, I get a computer message not from Earthlink but from AT&T who say they will come the next day. The guy shows up on time and he discovers that Earthlink did not put the apt number on the order.

So I call Earthlink who tells me they have to call AT&T, a week later and numerous calls later they claim that they cannot install internet at my location. all of this took my time and my patience. They just stole the money and would not refund it immediately so I called the bank and did a charge back.

dont even think of Earthlink a company that does not care period. Lies and runarounds!

I have been a customer of earthlink since 2015 but no more based on the latest experience i have had with the company.

I returned home after a two week trip abroad on september 15, 2019 only to be told by my daughter that our internet service had been spotty if not non-existent during my absence of two weeks.

I contacted earthlink on 9/17/19 and the technician had difficulty trying to solve my problem and opened a trouble ticket. On or about 9/18/19, earthlink called me back to inform me and i quote, "our contractor who services our lines global communications, has informed us that they no longer have the technology to service the lines."

Upon hearing this, i made the technician repeat what he told me and i prompty repeated this to him. I then told him that what the company was doing was purportrating fraud on it's customers and that i would be leaving earthlink. The technician then confirmed to me that there were many customers who were leaving.

I subsequently called earthlink back and had the first technician's story confirmed by a technician who handeled dsl problems. I thanked him for the confirmation and hung up.

What earthlink is doing is charging it's customers for services In this case dsl) that they can no longer provide accurately and free from constant problems. The company has not to my knowledge informed it's customers of this fact. It continues to charge it's customers who have dsl money when it cannot provide service as it's equipment is no longer supported.

Since finding this fact out and having read a few reports on the scamion, i strongly encourage those of you who are or were customers of earthlink and who had this problem to contact your state attorney general, the federal trade commission and the federal communications commission and lodge complaints with all three entities.

Finally, for those of you who have complained about earthlink's customer service, there is none. When the company was sold several years ago, it transferred all of its billing, techincal and support staff to india! there is noone in the united states who can or will help you and the staff abroad reads from scripts and can only do what they are told to do such as tell you that the problem is on your end when it is in fact earthlink's problem.

I have subsequently switched carriers and when the new carrier's technician/installer came to install service, i asked as to the state of earthlink's lines. He informed me that they were a poor state of condition and that it appeared that they had not been maintained for some time.

10 months ago I ditched my intenet provider Time Warner for a better and less expensive service, Earthlink. Earthlink was running a promotion and for $12.90 a month I got internet access for 6 months and then $29.95 a month after that. The $12.90 was being taken out of my bank card account automatically for the inernet services so I was happy with that.

I then got a call today asking why I hadn't paid my internet bill with Time Warner. I looked up my old Time Warner account and there was an outstanding balance on my account. It appears that in the background I was being charged $39.95 per month by Time Warner for the internet access and Earthlink was charging me $12.90 for "internet security" that I never even asked for.

It appears that the Earthlink representative from India had knowingly signed me up for Time Warner internet service in the background when I never wanted it, and then signed me up for some security services that I never asked for. I wasted over 2 hours on the phone with both companies today, and neither would return any of the money that they stole from me. Time Warner has the worst customer service out there and so does Earthlink.

If I see any other complanints out there like this I'm going to file a class action lawsuit. $39.95 at 10 months is $399.50. So yeah, this guy scammed me out of $400. Do not do any business with Time Warner, Earthlink or the new Time Warner internet provider known as Spectrum.

EarthLink Business uses deceptive practices to charge more than their contracted rates. Even though your company may have contracted for 3 years with them at a set rate, the rates mysteriously increase after the first year.

EarthLink manages to raise your rates by saying that there are charges that they do not control. Therefore they say that they can contractually increase your monthly charges by these amounts. When confronted with the extra charges, they can't seem to account for the charges in the increase.

If you tell them they are breaking their contract with you and therefore you are going to break your contract with them, they say they will hold your company liable for any upaid months left in your contract.

This is NOT the kind of phone and internet service provider that a company needs to do business with. There are just too many fish in the sea that offers services as good or better than EarthLink for the same or even less money.

Their customer service and tech dept is even worse. Our phone was out for 2 days in September and one entire week in October. This is totally unacceptable for any business, especially a phone driven business. We were not kept in the loop with technical support and their progress during that awful week of phone silence and were given flimsy excuses when we had to follow up. Very long hold times were common.

We would not recommend EarthLink to the dog catcher. Don't subject your business to this kind of abuse.
