Eagle Shield Inc Reviews

  • Apr 20, 2017

We called to get summer electric bills from 2007 (before we had it installed) and 2008 (after it was installed). We compared the years and we paid more in 2008. Eagle shield has done nothing exept cost me $4500. When I called they acted like I was an idiot. The lady told me that "its not possible". Most of the time they wont return calls. Im glad I financed the stuff, because Im not making any payments! I refuse to pay for something that does not work!!!!!

In March 2010 eagle shield installed insulation in my attic, it was placed on top of the other insulation not stapled to the rafters.

I was told that I should be able to lower my thermostat by three degrees but that is not correct. I still need to keep my thermostat at the same temperature as before.

I called the office several times telling them how unhappy I was with their product and was told that I needed to speak with the supervisor but she was never available and never returned my calls.

I wrote Garrett Harwood explaining my disappointment and requested a refund. His reply was to refer to the energy audit that his representative did when he first visited my home.

The representative travels throughout the home using a thermal imaging gun to locate where drafts are coming from. Mr.Harwood is inferring that my problem is elsewhere not from ineffective insulation.

The product warranty states that if purchaser if not completely satisfied at the end of the 5 year period with performance, comfort, energy savings or other benefits of Eagle Shield, a full refund of the purchase price will be paid less any energy cost savings realized from the performance of the product.

The limited guarantee covers a period of time which begins with the date you actually file your registration form with the company and continues for 5 years thereafter.

To obtain your refund you must write to Eagle Shield within forty-five days following the guarantee expiration date providing a request for refund with a statement of reason for dissatisfaction.

Provide complete utility billing information for utilities used for the twelve month period preceding the date insulation was installed along with complete utility billing for five year period following registration date.

When I spoke with Mr. Harwood he told me that they don't do refunds which is a contradiction to their terms and conditions lifetime product warranty and 5 year satisfaction guarantee.

I have filed complaints with the BBB and also with Division of consumer Affairs who forwarded my complaint to the contractor's license board.

I had no results from the Better Business Bureau and the Contractor's License Board attempted to mediate my complaint without success and were closing the case. They advised me to go to small claims court for assistance, which I have not done.

I have been ripped off and hope that others will read my dissatisfaction with the Eagle Shield company. Their product doesn't work!!!

I call the office they pick up the phone said the saleman no longer work there, I ask why she just hang up the phone. I saw the saleman at the Lucky store and ask why he quick? He told me that how Eagle shield do business, they make you invest $1000 into the job and lease or buy their equipment then make enough money then laid them off, (ladder, laptop, tape measurement, lease their FLRT camera for 120 a month) Eagle is cheap nothing for free... 1) all salepersons is a contractor with eagle shield, so what ever saleperson said is not eagle shield and eagle shield will blame on the saleperson. eagle shield try to get away the blame from customer. he keeps said sorry few times about lifetime product warranty he told me, eagle does not have an answer what happend they will be out for the business tomorrow who will paid for it? Maybe you can ask yourself the same question as I do before to sign the contract dont be stuck like me. if you want solar go to solar network, solar city better service, Eagle Shield can not handle few thousand dollar project how can they handle 20-30 thousand for solar energy. REMEMBER EAGLE SHIELD NOT A MANUFACTURE ANY PRODUCTS THEY JUST RE-LABLE THE PRODUCTS BUT THEY KEEP MENTION THEIR PRODUCTS THERE ARE JUST A SERVICE COMPANY. GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE DONT LET EAGLE SHIELD SCAM ON U AGAIN. THAT WHY THEY KEEP HIRING NEW SALEPERSON.

We installed Eagle Shield in our split level ranch style home on the SF Peninsula with high hopes and have been only been incredibly disappointed.

On days where outside it only reaches 70'F, our house can easily heat up to 78-80'F+ especially upstairs.

After seeing all the commercials and having an in-home demonstration (our sales rep. said he was a retired San Jose police officer boosting our belief in him ever greater), we were convinced Eagle Shield was the solution.

What a joke! Weren't we taken for thousands! Eagle Shield has done absolutely NOTHING to reduce the temperatures in our home and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to reduce our $400+ a month PGE bills.

And, of course, we tried on numerous occassions to reach our sales represtative via phone, via email after the installation - he no longer works for the company. He left shortly after selling us our installation.

Do NOT buy this product, it is a HUGE RIP OFF!

An Eagle Shield salesman came into our home with the intention of selling us their radiant barrier insulation product. He did an "energy audit" by asking us questions at our dining room table. The Eagle Shield salesmen do not have state certifications to do energy audits. They are only trained on the use of the infrared camera and how to read it. The salesman also omitted items on the audit along with adding the final numbers up incorrectly. I believe this was done intentionally to make our score look lower than it really is. The low score along with the "guarantee" that we would get all our money back if we were not fully satisfied convinced us to purchase their product. After the installation we noticed that our home was less comfortable. We checked the folder the salesman left us and saw that we did not have a copy of their warranty. We called the company and was told that we needed to contact the salesman. He mailed us one and when we received it we saw that it did not look what he described. It is not at all what we were told. We were very unhappy with their product and notifed the company. We ended up taking them to small claims court. After our case was over we looked at the file of evidence given to us from Mr. Garrett Harwood. It contained a second page to the contract we never saw or signed. It appears that someone attempted to forge my husbands signature. The second page of the document states that if we attempt to breach the contract after the three day right of recission the company shall be entitled to no less than 70% of the contract amount. We believe that the judge read this and only awarded us $1500 of the $6300 we sued them for. Don't trust these people.

Eagle Shield came knocking on doors in our neighborhood. They promised Lower PGE bills and cooler household temperatures in the summer and warmer in the winter.

We have a severally disabled son in our home and we thought the better climate control (they promised ) would help with our sons medical condition and lower our electric bills.

At first we were very excited at first to have the reflective barrier installed.

BUT, our bills have not been lower, our son is having more seizures than ever and our home is not cooler during the warmer days nor is it warmer in the cooler temperatures. Quite the opposit has occured. We have had to bundle up during the cooler days. We freeze.... and when it was just 65 degrees outside we were sweating! The internal temperature was 78 degrees.

When I complained to Eagle Shield they tried to act as if I am just a confrontational type of person. Saying that I hung up the phone on them etc. I asked them to remove their product and for a refund and their way of dealing with the problem was to have the audacity to put a Mechanics Lien on our home!

I have filed with the Better Business Bureau and the The State Contractors Board, I also talked to an attorney who wrote them a letter which Eagle Shield didn't even respond to. Eagle Shield has not tried to solve the problem or compromise or do anything except File a Mechanics Lien on our Home.

If I had purchased this at a store I would have returned it.

The BBB lists about 21 complaints, There are complaints all over the internet. Just Google them. DO NOT Trust them. Their contract even states in two places that they do NOT back up the information or promises made by their Salespeople.......

Sold us an attic fan at a huge 300% mark-up. It is a good fan, but you can get it (installed) for 1/3 the price Eagle Shield is charging.

We found out that their insulation is a ripoff and opted not to install it. They would not refund out money due to the 3-day period expiration. Instead they offered to install their window film product. The window film comes from American Standard and is does not have any NASA technology in it (lie).

American Standard distributors can install the product for $5 sq ft. Eagle Shield wants $22.85 sq ft. They also misrepresented it as being good for convective heat transfer and it is most commonly used for radiative heat transfer (direct sunlight).

They also finance through GreenSkyCredit which allows contractors to collect money before the product is installed into the customer's home. This means they get their money and you have no recourse but to sue them in court.

Let's put the people out of business.

Hi. I am the ceo of eagle shield inc. Whoever is reading this deserves to have the facts and not be swayed by delusional individuals. I am writing this myself since you matter and your opinion matters greatly. We have installed over 150,000 homes with our high performance radiant barrier reflective insulation and to date we have had only 4 bbb disputes which have all been resolved to bbb's satsifaction. If you do the %, that is an: .00002 % customer complaint factor. If you do the research on the top 100 companies to work for, you will see that we have a better satisfaction rate than companies such as: southwest airlines, starbucks, google, disney, and apple to just name a few. I an our fellow teammates are very proud of our company and the excellent ratings that the public has given us. I am extremely sorry we could not make this customer happy. Lord knows we tried. We even gave him his money back after it cost us thousands to do the job and deal with his unreasonable complaints. As far as his claim that the product does not work, all you have to do is look to the evidence to feel comfortable. Radiant barrier is title 24 government code for new construction. You can purchase it yourself at home depot, lowes, orchard supply, ect. It was designed and used on a 2 billion dollar space shuttle to protect astronauts and craft from 250 degrees above zero ( 38 degrees above boiling ) to -460 degrees below zero ( -492 degrees below zero! ) it is used by the fire departments as their emergency space blankets. You use it by putting it in the windshield of your car to keep the heat out. You use it in ice coolers and thermos bottles. It was recently featured on the history channel and discover channel titled under: "marvels of insulation"! The product not only works, it is by far the best insulation you can get for the money. Mr handy has only one issue that we could not solve. In his mind he thinks that this insulation is supposed to be air conditioning which makes things cooler instead of what it does, it manages the environment to keep heat out. Since he lives in manteca where it gets way over 110 degrees in the summer regularly, even with our product changing his temperature in his home 10 degrees, he will still need to run his air for a while, although certainly for not as long. That was not acceptable to mr handy who felt that once he put it in he should never have to run his air again. I am sure that all reasonable thinking people would read between the lines and know the truth. Add to that, that we have the space foundation certified seal and we are an energy star partner should show that we are very credible and ethical. I pray that this gentlemans complaint will not sway you from seeing the facts and inspecting the truth yourself. You can see the video at www.eagleshield.com... Thank you for investing your valuable time perusing this.

God bless,

Garrett harwood
