I was with Eagle Express for 6 years out of 3 different locations. The dispatchers pretty much are not worth anything. You can continue to tell them in advance of issues but they do nothing and then try to pin it on you. Out of Columbus there was Norm who was a grump meanie.
The beat dispatchers/managers there were Homer, Jeff and Andrew(nights). Old Man Mike was alright but sometimes he would get a twig up his butt. The equipment is crap. I spent 50% of time broke down. They are cheap and will take the cheap way out.
One time they had a outside vendor mechanic that was contracted to the city so they city came first. So your truck or trailer could need repaired and itd be a whole month before he'd look at it. Then say there is nothing wrong and then a week later you were sitting on side of road.
At some PO they have dropped trailers but only the number of contracts out that specific location. So if there was 1 trailer out of service you'd have to wait a few hours for another driver to bring in a trailer to be unloaded and you load it. So there is a CONTRACT FAILURE.
There was a FM in South Holland that should've been fired long time ago because he talked to his drivers like they were nothing even though he NEVER worked in the trucking industry but the driver been a driver 25 yrs. It took for him to tell a female driver from AL he was sending her to South Holland and he'd put her in a hotel and come keep her warm for him to be fired.
Yes that should be automatic termination but they should've gotten rid of him long before he ever had a chance. Just think of how many other females he talked sideways out his month to but they might have been afraid to say something in fear of retaliation or what have you.
They say they communicate with the PO of delays but when you get to the PO NO ONE has a clue why your late or they give you grief for lateness. Eagle Express sold 51% to HOOVOSTOL and then took over Beam Brothers when the 3 owners were Federally indicted on Money Laundering charges and other charges of manipulating drivers hours and pay.
IF YOU CHOSE TO GIVE THEM A SHOT THEN ALWAYS DOCUMENT EVERYTHING OVER PEOPLENET OR QC WHATEVER ONE YOU HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU. Also understand that they may NOT even respond back. But at least its documented and you are covering your tail.
Understand that some contracts aren't even planned properly. There are some contracts where a 3 yr old can plan better. DO NOT LET THEM PUSH YOU OR RUN YOU ILLEGAL. They will tell you they do NOT but they will NOT listen to you even if you give them 8 hour notice of there may be an issue(s) cutting into your legal log.
Mail goes goes goes. Yes I totally understand that but when you make no room not even for the driver to STOP and use the bathroom because your mail will be late is a load of BS. That's why I say a 3 yr old can plan better than that. My contract always had holidays and the next day off....
