New Jersey EZ PASS charges people who are NOT EZ PASS customers a 50 dollar Aministrative FEE for EACH toll-EACH TOLL!!!
Originally writing this, I thought these were late fees-and I was thinking, how can I get charged a late fee if I wasn't even notified of charges in the first place??
I call in EZ PASS and get the worlds most idiotic condecending phone rep who's evidently humored by my aggravation tells me that she can only waive ONE administrative fees per year-since I'm not a customer!!! WTH is this now???? I ask her to break it down for me because originally I'm thinking admin fees are late fees-but the idiot on the other end, a live person is more like a robot & keeps repeating word for word what she already said, "Sir, like I alredy told you..." -Yes I know lady! I heard you, but can you explain it to me???? No-evidently, she could not and I hung up...
I just now realized these aren't late fees-they are ADMININSTRATIVE FEES LMFAO!!!! They expect you to pay 50 dollars on top of the original 1.95 toll! Then another 50 on top the original 6.95 dollar toll (turnpike). Then another $50 on top of the original $1.25 toll and so on!!!! ARE THEY NUTS!! How is our government allowing this? And I refuse to become a EZ PASS member!! This is disgusting!!
I don't know if other places are like this but, EZ PASS NJ is, and I hope no one's paying these fees; if this isn't a RIP OFF then, I don't know what a rip off is!!!
Working at EZPASS in Staten Island really is a RIPOFF for a temp employee!! Horrible work environment at EZPass Customer Service Ceter, 1150 South Ave 4h Fl, Staten Island Ny Management aren't as supportive, they act friendly and smile in your face but you can't trust them at all. There is too much favortism, the pay is bad. Some Work Leaders are very crazy!!!!!
Took a role for the money. That was a bad choice. Culture is terrible. Senior managers do not develop good leaders, rather use people as stepping Stones. Managers, Supervisors and Work Leaders they all are very abusive with the temps, they treat temps like animals when the reality the animals are them!!! offer no clear expectations and rather tell you what you are doing wrong than coaching.
No work life balance and you are seen as weak for wanting to take time off. There is no training classes or development classes for managers. Managers and WL dress like going to a bar! Agencies MMC Group hire quick and fire quick so they keep hiring to keep a pay check coming to theyre doors! Managers here also not even better, they are all poor management!!!
The environment is very poor, work leaders are nasty specially Andrea Bonilla (she indeed is very crazy, abusive and a side phsycho too) and her partner lover Mike Pinocchio both are horrible people to deal with. Horrible Job Environment at Staten Island NY NY Staten Island
They say I didn't pay, but I Got Cash Receipts Time-Stamped 11/01/2019 at 10:53 am at Exit 8A Lane 07W.
Seven hours later that same day 11/01/19 at 16:33 I'm at Lane 10W at Exit 7A. Proof of payment beyond question with Toll Collectors ID. on both receipts.
I make deliveries and get on and off the NJ Turnpike several times a day. Then this threatening letter arrives demanding an extortion payment for $3.90 in tolls and a $100.00 fine, or they will suspend my license and registration. And as if that isn't enough, once I'm homeless, they'll send bill collectors to shake me down under the bridge.
Their equipment often breaks down, so I assumed it was a computer malfunction and sent copies of the receipts. Now it's no secret some EZ-Pass people are unable to read and write, much less speak the language. So after spending my valuable time digging them out, copying and mailing, I get this reply.
"After careful review of your dispute for Violation Number T131950556207, the following determination has been made. The dispute is not accepted."
Receipts are proof of payment. How long has this scam been going on?
If a lawyer is reading this, be advised I want to file a class-action lawsuit on behalf of everyone who has been Ripped-Off by these Brain-Dead Morons.
So we travelled through Delaware EZ Pass on 07-17-19. We went to the cash booth and paid the required $4 for our Toyota Sienna. We made sure that we had cash with us whenever we use that route since we don't have EZ Pass.
A couple of weeks later and to our total surprise we received a bill of $54 which includes their outrageos fees. We decided to contest it by mail explaining to them that we did pay the required $4 in cash and that maybe they should review their videos to check to see if the misitake was ontheir end. They replied that we did not give them sufficient evidence.
We did not request a reciept (no idea if they do provide one) and no idea what else we would have done to convince them. Obviously it did not occur to us to do anything else at the time besides paying in cash and moving on.
Its really bad to have to pay such a high amount for a toll that we sure we paid for in full at the time.
It seems everytime we travel out of PA to Delaware or New Jersey with our EZ-Pass we get citations from both states for a non-working EZ Pass. Yet on the same trip our EZ Pass works just fine on the PA Turnpike. Furthermore, on our last trip to Delaware, the EZ Pass worked going South through the toll plazas yet on the return trip through the same toll plaza we received a citation for a violation of non-toll payment.
I sent my statements from my EZ pass account showing ample monies in both my tag accounts yet that didn't satisfy Deleware. My attorney also sent two letters with documentation validating my claim that the EZ pass had ample funds. Still did not satisfy Delaware so they turned it over to a collection agency. This put my Attorney into high gear and he went after them guns blazing. They finally backed off the claim but never apologized or even sent any word of the claim being dismissed.
This year we traveled to Delaware and NJ and bingo, same deal. I won't answer the claim this time, I just simply turned it over to my Attorney and let him deal with these crooks. I often wonder how many folks just pay the fine to eliminate the hassle. Sorry, that's not in my DNA. When I'm right I'll break the gates of hell to prove it.
Beware of your EZ passes in these two states. Make sure you audit your EZ pass statements.
Upon entering entry plaza 46 on May 8, 2018, I saw an EZ-Pass message: contact EZ-Pass. Then I noticed I forgot to put up my device. Since I already rode through the entry point, I immediately pulled over so the vehicles behind me could continue while I called up EZ-Pass customer service. Their automated service is not easy to navigate, and almost 2 minutes later, I finally get a customer service rep on the line as I turn my car around and leave the thruway at the same plaza: 46. Bear in mind, there are no signs posted for No U-Turn anywhere, so I told the customer service rep what happened, and that I now have my device mounted. He assured me that I would NOT be charged anything as I did not take the thruway as long as I exited at the same location. He also said that my license plate would have been scanned upon entry and cross-referenced with my EZ-Pass account, so they would see that I did not take the thruway.
Now, less than a month later, I see that I was charged $14.87 for that error. I called customer service today, June 6, 2018, and they then proceed to claim that they cannot put in my entry point as the same spot that I exited and that I would be charged the full amount of $14.87. Their supervisor stated that I can not do a U-Turn on the thruway. I reminded him that I was not on the thruway; I was still at the entry plaza where no signage is posted. He began to talk over me, then deny it when I pointed that out to him. After all that, he denied that his employees ever tell anyone that they would be okay exiting at the same location of entry and not be charged. During the course of the conversation, he also stated that he did not know why their scanners did not pick up my license plates upon entry and that it was not a flaw in their system.
I ran the entire New Jersey Turnpike going from VA to CT on 12/22/17. My ezpass paid the full 13.85 toll. I can see it in my ezpass detail.
I got a letter from NJTP dated 2/15/18 which I received on 2/20/18 with a photo of my license plate, saying I owed a 4.75 toll and a 50.00 service charge.
I called, waited on hold for 30 minutes and talked to a representative, who told me it was just a system glitch. Per her instructions I printed my virginia ezpass detail, circled the proof of payment, which was at the exact same date and time and toll plaza, and mailed back the dispute. I thought that would take care of it.
One detail: the toll plaza, date and time were exactly the same, but the specific toll booth was different between my Virginia ezpass report and the New Jersey Violation.
On 3/9/18, I got a letter from them stating that my dispute was denied because the 50 day time limit had passed, and therefore I had to pay. The initial letter was dated after the 50 days! I never had a chance to dispute it! I'm going to pay it, because I'll be making that trip again, but this is simply state-sponsored extortion. Their system has a flaw, and I have to pay for it.
I received a letter stating that I owed many tolls from a failure of the tag to read my card..I called and they said the debit was declined since December 16th!! The letter was sent February 2nd!! Why did they not inform me immediately of any problem processing my payments for these tolls?? On top of the fact they charged me full toll when I am a resident and get 50% discount..for each toll that was not processed I was charged $100! This is plain extortion! Consumers need to protest or get consumers affairs or the governor to stop this scam! Why was I not informed of this until they rachetted up a bill for hundreds of dollars??
I never received a mail from E-Z Pass about any kind of payment until the violation notice. Also I replenish about once a month and there weren't any notifications of any violations whatsoever. This totally unacceptable, unfair and should be against the law. They waited for two months and then sent the letter along with violation fees. 3 violations, $300.00 in fines and $25.50 in tolls.
I called EZ pass customer service and they are terrible although, she stated I should send send a check for the $25.50 and a letter of explanation and request the fines to be waived. I do as she instructed and about a month later I get a letter from collections asking for the full $325.50. I wish we can all do something about these frauds!
For almost one year I have been calling and mailingforms in to the N.Y Jersey turnpike authoritydeclaring that the license plate NY3D93, is not mine. I never owned that type car nor have I ever owned that plate number. The only car ever registered to me is a 2013 Hyundai plate number is MC MEMA. This is the first car I have ever registered in my name, all other cars that I have had were resgistered in my husband name, but he died in 2014
I have E-Z Pass NY. I was notified by NJ via mail that I I was in violation for a toll of $.50. I completed the dispute form and submitted my NY account number and transponder number on the same day that I received the notification from NJ. I even took the envelope to the post office to mail it.
Months later I received notification from NJ they were rejecting my dispute. The letter says I either (a) didn't respond with 50 days of the violation date (not the date of dispute notification the date of the violation) or (b) that the license plate number associated with the violation was not updated in my E-Z Pass account (my NY account was current) or (c) there was insufficient funds (NY withdraws $225 from my account whenever it goes below a certain amount so I've never had insufficient funds).
I wrote the Violations Bureau a letter detailing why none of these objectiions were relevant and again provided my NY account number and transponder number Today I received another letter rejecting my dispute for all the same reasons (form letter, I doubt anyone really reviews dispute letters).
So today I mailed them a check for fifty cents to cover the toll since they can not or will not debit if from my NY account.
I have not had any other violations before or since, so this obviously was some sorry of malfunction of the toll booth or my transponder on that date/time. I am trying in vain to get a customer service person to resolve this violation but get no where with the Customer Service Center of NJ. They were at fauly for not notifying me of the violation in a timely way.
They need to take their $.50 cent check for the toll and reverse that ridiculous $50.00 fee they are tryng to extort.
If the reports are to be believed this problem has stood unresolved for nearly 5 years at last.
Paid cash to the attendant: $1.50. I am not and at the time was not a current EZ Pass customer (though I was more than 5 years ago). I received a notice of violation that reads, in part:
Under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 27:23-1, et seq. and N.J.A.C. 19:9-9.1, et seq., the person named above is alleged to be liable, as the owner of the identified vehicle(s), for the toll violation transations(s) specified within this notice. Non-payment of toll(s) is a violation and my be subject to assignment to a collection agency and the suspension of all motor vehicle registration privileges by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
You have a right to dispute the total amount due by using one the following three methods: (1) by completing the Dispute Form on the reverse of this Notice and mailing it to the NJ E-ZPass Violations Processing Center in the address below, (2) by completing a Violation Inquiry on the NJ E-ZPass web site at www.EZPassNJ.com, or (3) by calling the NJ E-ZPass Violations Processing Center at (973) 368-1425.
I chose to complete the dispute form, though I had no receipt. I received a reply that said that the documentation I provided does not support the dismissal of the violation. Seeing no other way out I decided to pay the fine.
I understand that traffic law works differently than, say, criminal law, but however different it is, the design of this system looks immoral. It's like they're saying I couldn't prove I was innocent, so therefore I'm guilty.

Sent me to collections without sending a bill first. Then overcharged $100 per toll.
The sign on the road says "Toll by Mail", but they never mailed the bill.
