Drone Zone Complaint - STAY AWAY! DO NOT USE THEM!
On August 3 2015, I paid the $99 for repair of my Phantom 2 Vision drone, and paid for shipping with insurance as described in their instructions.
When I had not heard from anyone in weeks, I called the owner, John Barret, and asked him how it was going. He said he was behind, but should be able to get to it in the next few days. More weeks went by, and then I finally received and email stating it would be $140 to repair it, so I paid it and waited. A week or so went by and I was notified it was fixed and it was on it’s way to me. When I removed the drone & tried flying it, the exact same problem I sent it in for was still happening, so when I emailed John at Drone Zone, he sent me a return shipping label so I could return it to him.
More weeks go by with no response. I finally called John Barret again, and he said it would be another 2 weeks or so until he could get to it, and I asked him why mine wasn’t being pushed to the front of the line, considering it was a comeback. He got hostile with me, telling me not to tell him how to run his business.
I waited patiently another week or so and finally got the email that it had been fixed and was on it’s way back to me. When I received it, guess what…IT DID EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE! I sent yet another email and got another shipping label to return it AGAIN!
After 3 attempts to repair, I finally got the shipment back in NOVEMBER, YES FOUR MONTHS after initially sending this for repair, and guess what??!! THIS TIME THE PACKAGE WAS SMASHED IN SHIPPING! But John at Drone Zone did NOT use FedEx or UPS with insurance this time, he used USPS!! So, after emailing him, he said there was nothing he could do and he had already invested way too much time and money into attempting to repair this, so he was done. I told him, no, he was not done, and if he did not file a claim with his business liability insurance, I would contact my attorney and being the process of destroying his reputation online and with the BBB. I got an email back saying he would file the claim and to send him the drone, so I did. Then, a couple of MORE WEEKS LATER, I received an email saying the insurance company needed the box it was shipped to me in, so I spent another $25 shipping the box, then ANOTHER 2 WEEKS LATER, he emailed me saying he needed all of the inner packing or they would not pay the claim. At this point that had been thrown away, but I had pics of everything, which should have been more than enough, but guess what?? He emailed me and said the denied the claim, that it was my fault for not sending the inner packing, and he was shipping back to me, “sorry it worked out so bad”. REALLY??!! He also told me he was sending the drone with all the controllers, batteries, case and everything back to me, BUT GUESS WHAT?? Yep, I never received it!
I emailed him one last time, gave him the choice of sending me a certified check for $1500, or get ready for litigation and this exact letter being filed on 22 Consumer Advocate sites, and filing a complaint with the BBB. I received a phone call on December 1, 2015 where John proceeded to call me every filthy name I have ever heard. I have now filed suit, cannot file a claim with the BBB, because he is not even a member, much less accredited, (stupid mistake to not check that first), and am posting this exact letter to every consumer watch-dog site I can find.
