Don Addison and his apprentice/associate son Cody Addison contracted to frame and install trusses on our new construction project. Deposit was made and work started fairly quickly in early May 2017. He stated this framing and trusses would be done three weeks. I had asked for quotes for additional trade work and deposits were paid again.
One of the scams I fell for is the second deposit on original work, even though hefty deposits were given on the future trade work of stucco, roofing and electrical. He stated, he keeps the deposits separate and the additional deposit is need to keep the current work going. Well before I knew what I did, checks were written for over $16,000 and Don and his son Cody had only barely completed about $7,500 of the initial work...then poof they were gone at about 8 weeks since start, and many things were still not complete to get the framing and truss/decking inspected.
Don always had an excuse why things changed and work was not getting done, and why he was a no-show on days he said he would be there. Don, quite convincingly, claimed to go to emergency one day and texted me a picture. Being high suspicious, when I checked the date, the picture was 10 months old from 2016. Don frequently wouldn’t show up till 7am or later, leaving by 11-12, took frequent, long breaks, and was on the phone a great deal...no wonder work did not get done.
Don is a master at Fraudulent Contracting without a license. His methods of racketeering schemes, taking your money, and lying, while looking you in the eye--which is out-n-out theft, while waving needed deposits in your face or claiming it would delay your project, was just overwhelming.
It's important for people to know here that there are avenues for reporting scam artists like Don and Cody. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ-ROC) has a claim form for unlicensed contractors, it's easy to make out. Please, if Don and his various companies has done you wrong, just get it filed, ASAP! TV Channel, 3 On Your Side, is another avenue for fraudulent claims of this sort.
It is obvious, from numerous websites, that Don has other grievances of fraud schemes against him, dating years back. Beware Don Addison (AKA: Adonis Elmer Addison).
