Diversified Materials Specialists, Inc. Reviews
I worked for Diversified Materials Specialists, Inc. (DMSI International), headquartered in Venice, Florida, with manufacturing facilities in the Philippines and China. During my time with the company, the owners of the company (Jeff and Jeneth D'Alonzo, and Brandon Woodward) led me, and many others, to believe that the products DMSI International sold were TAA (Trade Agreement Act) and BAA (Buy America Act) compliant for our military and government customers that required the products to be manufactured in approved TAA-compliant countries.
Other employees began to investigate the manufacturing practices and processes used by DMSI International and, after researching their suppliers who manufactured the products that DMSI International could not manufacture themselves, discovered the following: the products were made in China and the Philippines. DMSI International is taking products that are made in China and the Philippines and importing them into their facility in the U.S., and rebranding them as “Made in America” or “TAA” compliant for their military and government customers. DMSI International does have limited manufacturing capabilities in the U.S. but it accounts for only a small portion of their overall manufacturing capabilities. Most of their products are made either in the Philippines, where they own a facility, or China and then imported to the U.S.
DMSI International sells a variety of products that utilize Chinese and U.S. raw material (such as adapters, connector components, fiber, and metal, for example) for the finished product, but are marketed as “Made in America” to their customers. DMSI International sells their products to numerous military and governmental agencies, such as the Department of Defense (DoD) and National Security Agency (NSA), across the world that operate at the highest security clearances and should know that the products they are purchasing are not as described, advertised, or marketed by DMSI International.
The operating practices of DMSI International are misleading, deceptive, and fraudulent. DMSI International must not be able to continue to market their products as “Made in America” or TAA- compliant when they do not meet those standards. Obtaining products at a much cheaper price from the Philippines and China and selling them as a certified BAA/TAA product is unfair to their competition who meet those standards and deceptive and misleading to the consumer that is trusting they are receiving what they requested.
