Disabled American Veterans Reviews

  • Mar 12, 2016

I am a severly disabled American Retired Veteran who needs help filing for unemployability through the VA. My father-in-law suggested that i contact DAV to help me since that was what they state id their job. I contacted them and sent them paperwork on my behalf by fax. They stated that i needed to officially make them my liaison. When i left the military, american legion was appointed as my liaison, unknown to me. DAV sent me a form in the mail. I filled out the form and faxed it back to them. Unknown to me was that would be the start of my troubles. One of the sheets had a form that i was to send to each of my past employers. I faxed copies of those and called DAV to see if they received them. I was told that it was before 10 A.M to call back then. I did and was told that i would be contacted later by my representatrive. The next day i called a little after 3 P.M and was told that they do not receive calls after 3 P.M. I aked her if they received my fax. She told me that she would foward my requst to my representative. I ask her who it was and she did not know. I called back the next day and after SEVERAL busy signals, i got through and i was told that they are off on thursday for training. I called back the next day and again had a difficult time getting through, i asked the lady who answered who my representative was and she said it was and he was busy and would call me back. Two days later i was called by my Rep around 3 P.M. and he left a message to call him back. I called immediately back and was told it was after 3 to call back tomorrow. I told her i was returning his call and she put me on hold. She returned to the phone and said that my Rep said to call back tomorrow. I have tried calling several times today with no Sucess. I talked to my hometown Veterans office and was told that they have had SEVERAL problems with DAV. I have a hard time believing that this is an isolated case. To pour salt on a wound i received a packet in the mail from DAV to send them money and become a member with items to coerce me.
