DirecTV Reviews

  • Apr 5, 2023

I did a lot of research before switching to Directv. I made the mistake of not looking for Directv reviews and complaints. On march 20, 2023 I chatted with Bea on Directv’s chat line from 3:46 PM until 5:29 PM, 1 hour and 45 minutes. He assured me he had checked all the ‘promo’ boxes concerned with my new account switching from Dish TV as he was signing me up for Directv. One of the promo boxes had to be filled as my order was being placed. I copied and pasted the entire chat.

I tried getting into my new account March 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2023, to make sure everything went as promised. Every time I called Directv I was informed it would take a few days for my account to be set up.

The services were installed on March 22, 2023 between 12:00 and 4:00 PM as Bea arranged. My premium channels were not available as advertised in the promo. I called and was informed the premium channels were not part of the promo. After having to call a few different departments I got the premier channels activated.

3/25/23 @ 6:31 PM I spent 1 hour 28 min trying to get someone to verify all my promotions were applied and help me get into my account to make sure the rest of my promo boxes were checked. No one could help or tell me.

On March 21, 2023 a bill was generated showing I was to pay $96.23 in addition to the $96.23 being paid through autopay before March 30, 2023 which I did not receive until March 26, 2023. The bill was for services “Mar. 21 - Mar. 21”. Service didn’t start until March 22, 2023. See Attached.

3/26/23 @ 2:19 PM immediately after reading my email I called Directv and spoke with Shelly for 1 hour 14 minutes. She informed me something was not right; just ignore the bill and she would put notes in my account stating any late fees were covered if any were added. She could not verify if my other proms were added to my account. I told her I just wanted out of my contract. She informed me I had 24 hours to get out, after that I would be charged $480.00.

Below are some of the documented times I was calling trying to get my account straighten out on March 27, 2023;

3/27/23 @ 9:59 AM I was on the line with Directv for 20 min

3/27/23 @ 10:38 AM I was on the line with Directv for 1 hour 35 min

3/27/23 @ 12:22 PM I was on the line with Directv for 35 min

3/27/23 @ 4:14 PM I was on the line with Directv for 12 min

I was told many different stories. No one could tell me if my other promos were added. One gentleman informed me he had been working for Directv for 12 years and the other people I had conversed with did not know what they were talking about. If I did not pay my bill twice, I would be charged a late fee.

Autopay paid it once and he took my payment $96.23 for a second time.

I finally got into my account and read the following; “Your last bill of $96.23 was for the period ending Mar 20.” See Attached

According to their statements I paid; “Your last bill of $96.23 was for the period ending Mar 20.”

The bill was for services “Mar. 21 - Mar. 21”, I paid $192.46 for services before my service was installed. See attachments

My next autopay will be for $96.23 due April 12, 2023, $288.69 in 23 days.

How can this happen? What can a person do to protect themselves?

Got a call from a guy from att/directv. said since I was a loyal customer they wanted to add some free channels. when I asked if it was free he hung up on me. couple hours later I got an email saying I added services and a contract.

Now att is playing stupid. Do not trust this company nor anyone who calls you from them. log the call and be prepared for a bill in your email

Directv promised the same monthly charge for a 24 month contract, promotion price applied for 12 months, and if we would sign up for another service (like internet), the promotional price would be extended for 24 months. We did sign up for a second service. After the first year, they are charging us full price, and don't want to honor the promotional price agreed upon.

We were sold a cable plan by a sales representative. It was explained to us that we would have free movie channels for one year. When we signed our contract it said 3 months, however, the rep assured us that after 3 months he would take care of the charges for us. We started getting billed for the movie channels and suddenly the rep couldn't do anything for us. When we contacted direct tv, they also wouldn't do anything for us. We provided them with copies of the text messages showing the rep said free for one year, however they wouldn't fix the problem. This is fraud and misrepresentation. We were bated into a plan that doesn't exist and direct tv will not correct this issue.

On Friday, August 14, 2015 I was paid by my employer. I woke up to check the balance on my Suntrust account so that I could make my car payment. To my surprise, I only had $72 left in my account! DirecTV took it upon themselves to take an Unauthorized debit of $874.29. I would never authorize that amount! I live paycheck to paycheck! How am I going to survive, much less pay my bills. I immediately called DirecTV and the first call I was put on hold for a supervisor for 35 min, but they never came to the phone. So while I was on hold I called from another phone and got someone else on the other phone. They proceeded to switch me to the fraud department and told me that there was nothing they could do because I used that card to make a payment before. I stated of course I did I had to use the card every time I had to call in and make a payment. So I asked what if I had used my mom's card to make a payment? They said oh well then it would have been paid with her card and she would just have to contact us with her information and she might get her money back. These people are unbelievable!! Now I am trying to get protection from my Suntrust bank and they are giving me the runaround!! Absolutely frustrated!! DirecTV shouldn't be able to take money out of people's accounts without a written or verbal authorization on the time of the transaction!!! This is straight up theft!!!

This company commits fraud. Beware!!.

I currenlty have directv and pay a little too much, my cable has also been slow recenlty. I had Robert from this company come out to my house. He was in Directv attire so I assumed he was from Directv. He reviewed my satellite and DVRs and promised that he would upgrade my current system, since they are old. He took a few screenshots of my bill so that he could easily locate me in his system. He mentioned that my bill would down so much and I would be happy. The next day when installation was complete, it turns out he fraudulently signed me over to Dish. He is also using another customers credit card as the credit card on the Dish account is not mine. It has been completely frustrating as I am now cleaning up his mess. Now I have two contracts and still have the same issue I started with. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

We have had DirecTV for over ten years and loved it, however we recently canceled it to get a better deal with an internet/cable company since. Our prior internet service was horrible and we were left with no choice unless we paid for two television companies.

The cancellation was easy however we never received the labels to return the DirecTV receivers. After three calls and two months we still have not received the labels nor do we have any address to return the receivers. Now DirecTV is calling and charging for not returning the receivers, which are still at the house waiting to be returned.

Each time the DirecTV customer reps say they are putting the return labels in the mail but they are not. After being a loyal DirecTV customer for so many years I am shocked and disgusted at how they are dealing with the cancellation. Refusing to honor their end of the agreement by not allowing us to return the receivers and then trying to charge us for the receivers not being returned is insane.

We have now filed a complaint with multiple angencies and legal entities.

We will never in our lfetime use DirecTV again, and we used to be happy, loyal customers.

My bill for tv services was out of site and i called direct tv. i was told that since i was an att client that i had to talk to att about getting the service. i called att and was delighted at the news that i copuld reduce my bill over 100.00 per month and still recieve abouth the same channels i was getting with uverse.

i said ok but i have heard from neighbors that the signal drops when it rains or storms. the agent told me that it had been improved so much that it did not happen any more and also if i was not happy i could disconnect within the first 30 days with no problems.

i kept the terrible service for 18 days. every time it rained we lost service. i had aproximatly the same number of channels but most of them were trying to sell jewerly or clothing. also my screen flickers all the time. enough to give me a seizure.

i called and canceled the service ans was told if i did they would have to charge me an early termination fee. i never signed any contract with this company and never agreed to a fee. if this had been disclosed to me i would never have signed up.

i spoke to several people in different states and finally realized they were just playing games with me. i have called and written letters to this company several times but they are still billing me $430.00. this is after i paid a small connection fee and 175.00 for the first months service.

i am a sr citizen and was totally ripped off by the people that work for this company.i will not now or never pay them another dime. there threat of reporting me to the credit people does not scare me. i am a proud combat veteran of the united states army and will not accept this kind of abuse.

i would offer advise to be very careful when dealing with these people. they are only concerned with selling everything they can and they are not concerned with delivery of a good product or being truthful. i think they are all highly commissioned people.

if there exists any suit i can join..sign me up.

Complete run around on the NFL Sunday Ticket. Called to cancel-was lied to about how the season already started. Called back the next year to and find out original person lied to me......asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to yet another agent. Then, Tried to explain to Patricia from New Mexico how I can't rent movies and she didn't know what I was talking about because she has "Comcast." Then added 2 boxes, charged me $246, I'm still paying to rent the boxes each month and have to turn them in when we cancel service with no refund. They upped our package twice without permission. Absolutely unacceptable and a complete rip off!
