DexYP Reviews

This company is BOGUS! I have a list of every single person I spoke with every month for a year. I explained that I did NOT renew my advertisment for 2018. They continued to bill me and have now turned me for collection. Do NOT trust these people.

We had a similar experience to the other person who reported this scam. We called to cancel our account as we were getting no results from their listings. We were informed in writing that our account was cancelled but they did not tell us that the billing is on automatic renewal even though we had not signed a new contract for three years.

So they have been billing us for the remainder of the billing year. We have just had to pay $1500 to pay off the remainder of the year's contract. They dont get any results for us and they are not transparent. Watch the small print!

I have been advertising in the 'yellow pages' for decades but this will be my last year. Every year the quality of the product deteriorates. This year there are red streaks thru my black & white ad that appear to be a print error but no one at dex-yp will even talk to me.

I have called customer support, responded to a 'how did we do' email, & sent them an email describing the issue. As of this review I have been completely ignored. I would be willing to bet that I will hear from them at renewal time though.

I would recommend staying far away from this company. Once they have your yearly contract they disappear.

CALLED YP 1/3/2019 TO CANCEL ADVERTISING AND WAS TOLD I WAS LOCKED INTO A NEW CONTRACT FOR 2019. THE SAID A LETTER WAS SENT IN OCTOBER 2018 ADVISING OF AUTOMATIC RENEWAL ON 1/1/2019.

I NEVER RECIEVED THIS LETTER AND IF I HAD I WOULD OF CANCELED IN DECEMBER 2018. THEY ARE NO GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR A YEARS ADVERTISING THAT I DONT WANT OR NEED.

THIS IS FOR INTERNET SERVICE ONLY. IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM TO CANCEL THIS SERVICE. I FEEL IM GETTING RIPPED OFF. WOULD NOT CANCEL ADVERTISING.

In the month of Aug 2018 Thryv calls me to help advertise our business on the internet. They offer several business plans depending on how you want to be listed. I picked the cheapest plan for one reason only. I don't know these people and only read a few reviews on line. I suppose they make up their own reviews.

So for the cheap price of $34.00 per month I figured to give it a try. Once you pay them then you can log into their software dashboard to see how it looks. And to see approx 60 web search engines they promise you would be listed in. They also promise your web site will be placed at the top of the page across all of these search engines. After about one week you can click on any of the web search engines to see your listing. At this point we were only listed on 49 of the 60 search engines. These search engines are some of the bottom feeders.

Very low on the scale of search engines. I've never seen them before. However those small search engines really wasn't what I was looking for. I was more interested in Yahoo, Bing and Google. However on these three search engines we were not being listed. It said pending. So I waited a few more days. During this time I was searching for us on line. Under my organic searches we were doing very well. But under DEXYP or THRYV nothing. So I called and emailed until they finally answered. I was able to cancel this service, but not the end of the story.

We few weeks later this guy named Darrel "Supervisor" called me. And apologized for the poor services . He went on to say he could make it up to me by offering this $600.00 package "top of the line" for $234.00 per month. I really thought this guy was a salesmen. Car salesmen. Anyway he said they would create a landing page for our web site, be at the top of all the search engines etc. I kept saying no. But I finally gave in. Darrel said give him one week for his team to put this together. And on the following week he would call me to go over this advertising. After one week he did call. But he put off our phone meeting for a few more days. I gave him the benefit. A few days later still nothing. Still didn't see our web site. So I called, no answer.

So when Darrel doesn't answer the phone it goes to voice mail to call his supervisor. I called Peter at 314-332-2311. He didn't answer and goes to voice mail. His voice mail said to contact his supervisor Rodney 314-332-2326. Left voice mail with him. Waited a few days. So now I start sending emails. CANCEL CANCEL and CANCEL. But no one ever replied. So I cancelled my credit card they have on file. Because they already got me for $234.00. So I demand my money back. Nothing. And now its been over a month. Guess what, still no advertising, no landing page, no nothing.

At this point I cancelled my credit card just in case. Shortly after that yes they tried to charge my card again. I send them another email, cancel their crap and return my money or I will file with RIPPOFF Report. Still nothing. Today I get a charge on my credit card. WOW. I have a new number so how did they do this.

These people have theft down to a science. They has their credit card processing company call my credit card company. They were able to convince my credit card company to process this payment on my new card. So I called my credit card company. WOW . Maybe it is taken care of now. Or maybe not. These people will lie to you, not provide any decent service and steal your money. Scams.

NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I had almost this exact problem with them when I was working as a VP for another company about 10 years ago and then I became the VP of Marketing for this company and unfortunately, the owner was already involved with Dex YP. They are just as crooked as they were then.

The sales reps lie about response rates and everything they can to make a sale. They tell you that you will get a 1% to 2% response rate. The entire company is crooked and lie all the way up to the people working directly for the CEO like Misty Jenkins, and Rebecca Gillenwater who works closely with the CEO to resolve issues. Mailed 50,000 mail piece's. The sales rep told the owner, sales manager, VP and office manager that they would receive 250 to 500 calls, we received 25 calls. The owner signed an agreement that said they would print and mail 100,000 pieces of mail. They would print and mail 50,000 and after we received the leads and sales from that we would print up and mail another 50,000. After receiving 25 calls instead of the 250 to 500 calls that was promised we said you lied about the response rates we do not want to continue. The worse part of it is now they are trying to force us into mailing another 50,000 pieces of mail.

When I spoke to both of these women Misty Jenkins, and Rebecca Gillenwater at Dex YP over the phone on two different occasions they both saw the bill due as though it had already been printed and mailed. When I told them that Dex YP had not printed or mailed the second 50,000 both women they were completely astonished and said they do not do business in that way, and promised to get right back to me with an answer. Instead of calling me back as both women said they would I get this email.

The one and only time this woman would ever speak to me she even argued with me that there was no way that Dex YP was billing us for a job that was never printed or mailed. She said she was going to research this and call me back. She never called me I only received this email below

Rebecca Gillenwater I understand that a request to cancel the program was submitted after the program did not perform to your expectations, however as advertising results are not guaranteed we do not cancel a contract due to perceived performance issues.

The one and only time this woman would ever speak to me she even argued with me that there was no way that Dex YP was billing us for a job that was never printed or mailed.

BY THE WAY, The entire mail program for Dex YP failed so badly that when AT&T acquired them recently they closed down that entire department and they do not even do the direct mail anymore.
