This is to anyone looking more in depth on whether or not to book Calico. This is a fair warning that I believe she is scamming people for their deposits and then stopping correspondence so that it would be "non-refundable" if you cancel. I attempted to make an appointment 2 weeks prior to a date, in which communication was back to back. Requested a deposit to hold said date and time for the appointment i paid through paypal and then from that point on, literally no responses to texts, emails, or calls. Not even confirmation of the appointment which would help in scheduling other things and buying hair, etc. No response until i filed a dispute through paypal after a week of no communication She then confirmed the appointment and then i bought the hair. Day of, she asks to move the appointment to a later time. I agreed and then at said time, she tries to move to an entirely different date. This clearly tells me that the deposit doesnt even hold the spot, but thats shes collecting in to act like it held an appointment time and then shes doing what she feels like in terms of whos hair to do or what time to do it. The reviews on styleseat regarding crappy communication, disregard for appointments, and unprofessionalism is true all. Luckily to get that refund back, because she'll ignore again, is to file a claim through paypal directly so that they can investigate and refund. If you plan om getting the hair done for an important event, please go another route. Very unreliable and lowkey a scammer.
This person is extremely unprofessional. I booked my appointment through her Styleseat online bookign page. I input my credit card information to reserve the space. I receive a confimation text immediatley. Two days before my appointment, I receive a text with the address to her home/shop and another confirmation of the appoiment.
I drive an hour to her home. When I get onto her street, I realize that the address that I received by text is not the full street address.
The street was correct, but instead of a five digit house number like the other homes on the street, the house number that I received contained only one digit. I begin calling and emailing the number on her instagram page to obtain the full address. No one answers. I have to get in contact with the friend that referred me to this hair stylist and she retrieves an old email containing the full street address. I then knock and no one answers. I call, text, and email, no one responds.
I wasn't sure if the stylist was running over with another appoinment, so I wait. Ultimatley, I waited an hour, occassionally texting and calling to no avail. It wasn't until several hours later that this stylist emails me and claims that she had a field trip for her son and that she had tried to email me at 9 that morning to inform me that she had to reschedule. Keep in mind that my appoinment was for braids. Your hair has to be prepped for braids, including washed, and blow dried so her waiting until 9 a.m., the day of, when my appointment was at 12 is unacceptable. She sent me a screenshot of the email. Styleseat links to facebook so the email was sent to an old email address and I never got it. I didn't understand why the stylist didn't text me when she didn't hear from me after sending the email a couple of hours before the appointment, or answer when I was texting and calling her repeatedly, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and agreed to return the next day for an appointment at 1 p.m.
The next day, around 10:30 a.m. she sends me an unsolicited email saying that if I wanted to come earlier I could. About ten minutes later, she sent me a second email saying that she could come to me to do my hair. I see the emails at approximatley 11 a.m. I email her back and say that I was in route to her and may arrive slightly early -- around 12:30 p.m. Five minutes later she texts me (from the same number that I texted and called the day before) saying that she had to cancel my appoinment again because she didn't hear from me fast enough in response to her email an hour early when she informed me that she was also available to do my hair earlier. At this point, I am 30 minutes into may dirve to her home -- a second time.
We spoke and she had no response to me repeately questioning her about how she could possibly cancel my appoinment in light of the fact that I was not late and that she agreed that she was available at 1 p.m to do my hair.
