Derm Love Reviews

This company-or companies--are scary good at what they do. They market beauty products, specifically facial skin and eye creams, that claim to make wrinkles and other signs of aging skin disappear. The hook is the offer of a free sample of both products for just the mailing charges, which are only around $5.

The ad I responded to was on an internet site, but I'd bewilling to bet there are similar ads in women's magazines, and maybe even on TV. Buried--and I do mean buried-somewhere in the extremely fine print it says you will have 15 days from the receipt of the product samples to notify the seller that you do not want more. Otherwise, you are automatically enrolled in a monthly delivery of the products, the cost of which then skyrockets to $90 plus and $80 plus respectively. The "plus" is because this company is sneaky and smart. They make this offer and market these products under multiple company and product names! The prices vary slightly; the facial skin creams I received ranged from $97 to $92 and the eye cream in the $80's. My credit card statement showed billing from 6 different "skin care"companies all over the county e.g. CA, NV, CT once each, and WI listed 3 times under 3 different names and phone numbers. Talk about confusing! Plus no telling how many other names and locations are representing the "parent company". As for the name and location of the parent company, your guess is as good as mine.

There is no question in my mind that the number of product names, company names and location and phone numbers are intended to be confusing to make it difficult to track down and stop the product shipments. The print on all the containers (ingredients, directions, precautions, and company info) was so tiny I had trouble reading it using a powerful magnifying glass!

The ads are directed primarily at women, middle aged or older, who are concerned about normal skin changes that occur as we grow older. I'm 71 years old and of course it's tempting to want the skin I had when I was 30! I used the "samples" on 4 small areas (each cheek and skin near the outside of each eye for nearly a month and I see no change in the skin on my face, including around my eyes. When the next delivery of the product arrived I was surprised to see the jar size and amount (1/2 oz) of the "regular" shipment was exactly the same as the "sample". Only the price tag was large.

The total amount charged on one month of my credit card was $387.88! I'm a widow and I live on a fixed income. I should have known better than to fall for this scam, but as I said they're marketing approach is very good and certainly most women want try to reduce facial wrinkles as much as possible. We are bombarded in the media with the idea that "younger is better", and few things make a person look older than facial wrinkles.

My intention is to call all the phone numbers of all the companies listed and tell them I do not want any more of their products-period. I will follow up the phone calls with emails of a similar nature for those companies for which I can find email addresses. I will also notify my credit card company to block payments to all the companies relating to skin care listed on the statement. Having read comments from several others who were scammed, I know better than to waste my time asking for my money back.

It makes me angry that unscrupulous persons take advantage of both women's ages and vanity! Older women especially are likely to have problems with small print and confusing bills. I am even angrier at myself for falling for this scam. "We grow too soon old and too late smart."
