Deco Appliances Reviews

  • Jul 4, 2017

This is a personal account of my recent experience with Deco Appliances and their subsidiary, the Appliance Desk and it is not an attempt to defame them, or any of their fourteen related companies. These sixteen companies operate out of Suite 900D at the address above. Deco Appliances, Appliance Desk, Equator Corporate Office – USA, Pinnacle Appliances, Sekidoa Appliances, Majestic Appliances, Triton Appliances, Morris Appliances, Conserv Appliances, Arbreau Appliances, Meridian Appliances, Galaxy Appliances, Eco Appliances Inc, Cobra Appliances Inc, Eco-Centre LLC, and Small Home Inc. After purchasing and setting-up my Deco washer-dryer combo, I immediately heard an extremely loud noise during the spin cycle. The following week the machine stopped working completely with a second problem and gave me an error code in which I had no way of determining what it meant from the documentation accompanying the brand new machine. (There was no error code chart.) There was, however, a sticker on the Deco machine to call the Appliance Desk for service and warranty matters so I called and told them I wanted to return the machine as I was completely dissatisfied with the performance of this new machine. But they wanted to fix the machine instead. They told me that after trying they couldn’t find a local repair technician and asked me find my own and that they would reimburse me up to $100 for his warranty labor. I spent considerable time looking for a local technician, but most appliance repair businesses said they wouldn’t work on any Deco appliances. This raised a yellow flag. These machines all have similar designs and parts (often interchangeable parts) so any experienced technician can fix just about any other machine.

I finally found a technician that was willing to work on the machine. He had just stared his own business and had twelve years of prior appliance repair experience. He fixed both problems on the machine in one hour. He said that the loud banging sound came from the two bolts that held the drum that fell off completely and that the third and final bolt was loose too. He said the machine probably left the factory in China without being adequately QC’d (quality control checked). I paid him in cash, got a receipt, and he left. I told him I would definitely use him again should I need a technician in the future.

That same day I submitted the receipt to the Appliance Desk via email. Three days later they called to confirm the details of the transaction and said my reimbursement check would be mailed to me one week. I never received this check, after numerous calls and emails to Appliance Desk. They gave me one excuse after another and I finally realized they were just giving me the run around; that this was their normal modus operandi. They said, “the check was in the mail”, but the check never arrived. Bottom line: I don’t ever expect to receive the reimbursement check. I will never buy another Deco Appliance, nor conduct any future business with the Appliance Desk, and, I intend advise family and friends of the same.
