DeCapua Painting & Home Improvement Reviews

Do not hire this guy to do anything. He claims to do contract remodeling but does not know how and has another contractor do the work. Also hardly ever showed up, plus was drinking on the job. I was going to hire him to do work on my house after my dear friend (god rest her soul she passed last year) hired him to do a remodeling on two homes. Her brother had died and left his house to her & then she bought the vacant home next door in Fairview. She hired this guy to paint and remodel both. He was okay for the first month but slowly and surely it started going bad. Many, many times she would ask me to go by the homes to see if he was working, since she lived across town and was even out if town a lot. But I'd go check and he was NOT there. You have to remember, both of these homes were vacant so he had free rein to come and go as he wish. We thought this would be a good thing since he could work long and not disturb anyone. No.

Instead he abused her trust. I cannot tell you how many times he would text her and say he was there but then she had me go check without him knowing, and he wasn't. And he had the nerve to ASK her for more money!! Saying he needed to buy materials! She would give him $$ and then boom, he doesn't even work. One time I went over there and found the house totally dark, no sign of anyone. It was as I left it 3 days before. He had just got money from her, and said he was going to paint and work over night to make up for it. Ha. He hadn't shown up for 3 days! Another time I went and there was again, no sign of him (it looks like he probably worked for like 2 hrs ) and even worse, beer cans everywhere. Again, he didn't know I was housesitting and she was out of town. He had no idea, so he thought she's 1000 miles away and wouldn't know. Beside the beer cans we believes that he was using possibly illegal drugs. I don't know about you but white powder and razor & mirror sounds like hard drugs.

One time I went and he was there (surprise!) but seemed like really wired. So we totally thought if he did not get drugs he could not work. Actually this is the big thing that she decided to fire him. It was using drugs and the drinking (which I took pics of the beer cans and sent to her) since this is a MAJOR liability. He had the nerve to argue with her over text messages and ask for more money! Who does that? Lucky the other (real) contractor that he called in was good. I have no idea how the good contractor even works with this guy, but anyway she ended up having him finish and totally fired this guy who claims he does painting and "whole house remodeling" lol give me a break. DO NOT HIRE DECAPUA PAINTING!! He is a liability and will just milk you for money anyway he can. He will hardly show up and then when he does he works for like 2 hours then leaves. You have been warned!

We had a solar company do damage to install a panel. The roof destroyed and inside, the ceiling need to be fix too. We got this name refer for Dave Decapua painting and was told he would make contact. This was Sept 10. We hear nothing from Mr. Decapua for 3 days.

Finally talk to him and explain the ceiling damage. He said he will come to look the next day about noon. That next day he says he have to reschedule, and this goes on like this for next several days. We make appointment, he says okay and promise a time, then he call back again and cannot make it. Meanwhile we have ceiling damage not getting fixxed.

Finally, we talk to him around Sept 19 and it's very strange, suddenly he starts saying how the other damage to roof needed to be repair first before he can repair the ceiling. Why not say this from the start? It came off really unprofessional, like he had no idea how to repair and paint the ceiling.

Here is where we avoided the ripoff: the solar company who cause the damage say they will pay the painter and roof people to fix. Funny how the roof company didn't ask us for any additional money to pay direct to them, but this painter did. Besides all the stalling & coming off as unprofessional, he tried to ask more money be paid to him directly from us!

This is red flag of a scam! By then we wasted almost 10 days with this painter. First he can't even show up. Then he keeps canceling. Then says other work needs to be done first , then nerve to ask for more money strait from us when he knew the solar company would be responsible to pay him? No way.

Please be very, very weary of doing business with Dave Decapua painting. We avoided being ripped off. This is to give warning to other people who think of calling him. We all need to do a part in helping our community avoid things like this.
