A young woman knocked on my door, telling me she was selling magazine subscriptions to earn a trip to Italy. She said she was in a public speaking class and the girls were competing against the boys. She explained the point system, etc to me.
I foolishly agreed to help with her trip, wrote a check for $59 for a magazine and she went on her way. I thought it was strange, but had to fix dinner and didn't worry about it anymore. Finally _4_ days later I looked it up on the internet and landed on this page.
So right now I am trying to figure out what to do. It is past the 3 day cancellation time.....but if they are crooks, should it matter? guess I will put a stop payment on the check.
Purchased what i thought was a book plan for my kids and nothing ever came the kid at the door stated he was going to a local college and he was raising money and here was the great deal on these books he originally wanted only cash or credit card i wasnt willing to give up either of them so i wrote a check which was cashed i feel like a complete fool for believing id really get all those books for $59
College age girls came to my door selling books and magazines. They said they were in a contest to win a trip abroad. I foolishly bought into it and wrote a check for $49.00 and gave them $ 10.00 cash to secure sale for contest. The red flag was a whopping $59.00 for a magazine subscription for two years. The next morning I came to my senses and cancelled the check.
