This place has a really bad reputation. I know this because of the reviews on their Facebook page. I got into an accident and my car was demolished. I was given no choice by the police - Daytona Wrecker was given the job. I asked for them to take my car to LKQ junkyard and Daytona Wrecker refused. They took my car to their impound lot which is closed on weekends - this happened this last Saturday.. By the time I went to get my car out, they demanded $385. They were very rude - made me wait and wait. Then they said I could not remove my own tow hitch from the car. After I went to the bank for more money, suddenly they changed their mind - they would pull my car out after I handed over my CASH. I was not sure I could even trust them handling my cash honestly but they counted it 5 times and finally agreed it was enough money. By the time the car was pulled out, I didn't have enough time to remove my trailer hitch. I had wasted so much time being screwed around by these scummy people that work there - they are right off Ridgewood and North St - next to the homeless coalition. Gross area and the people who work there are disgusting. I had a reputable tow company go there to pick up the vehicle FREE of charge and hand me $200 cash for my junker. This other tow company was great - the driver asked if everyone in the car was okay too. Daytona Wrecker could care less - all they wanted was the cash from my bank account. I wasn't able to unbolt my frame on trailer hitch because Daytona wrecker wasted so much time dragging their feet - the other tow company had to hook it up and go. That was a $250-$300 hitch that I got screwed out of. Do yourself a favor and call anyone else. My tow could have been $0 had I called the other place first, plus $200 cash, plus one $250-$300 trailer hitch. Read the reviews on Daytona Wrecker's own Facebook page and you will see that this is a normal part of business for them and that they consistently screw people with excessive charges. Thank you and please share.
Daytona Wrecker uses predatory towing. They focus on lower-income areas, in the cover of darkness, during the early hours- 3:30 a.m. Not only do they avoid a confrontation with the owner, they can make 2 or 3 times the amount of the normal drop rate.
