Those that do not except there own shortcoming blame others for there problems. Customers have their own version that works best for them of what happens at a fitting. Those with little experience, those stating outlook for advice from everywhere and by everyone, not taking the correct advice to address the problem. This is one of those situations, new rider, unwell horse with several issues, health, ulcers, sore back from incorrect saddle and riding in an inverted position. All issues created from lack of knowledge, poor advise and ever more important poor choices. As a business owner, we just have to keep helping people, those that really want to be helped benefit, those that rely on everyone's opinion and are afraid to own one, are the example of this lady. She is a blogger for a living, so has spent her time telling stories with more untruth, to make it more interesting, Better choice would have been to spend her time, attending to her ailing horse and listen to her instructor to be a more effective rider instead of adding to the discomfort of the horse.
I hired Joanne Metz-Laberge, owener/operator of Dark Horse Saddlery, Albertta, to do a saddle fitting on my horse. She measured my horse and then told me to buy the Zaldi Top Jump model in a size 31. When I recieved the saddle, it clearly did not fit my horse. It pinched her shoulders and did not sit evenly on her back. When I contaced Joanne to discuss a return she told me it was due to my mare being hollow and I would have to do certain exercises to make my horse change her shape in order to fit the saddle. No one in their right mind buys a saddle expecting to have to make their horse change shape. People buy saddles expecting them to fit, especially if they were only chosen based on so-called professional recommendations. Besides, all the exercises in the world won't change a horse's skeletal structure and make a too tight saddle fit. That would be like selling someone a pair of shoes that were too small and then telling them they had to do exercises to make their feet smaller.
When I suggested that she had made a mistake in measuring my horse she became abusive, accusing me of not being willing to take proper care of my horse. She eventually offered to exchange the new saddle for the demo I had tried. The only thing different between the two was the colour and the size. I don't believe the colour had anything to do with the fit. So, how, if she had measured my horse correctly, could the demo suddenly fit? And if it would be a better fit, how could she justify having measured my horse as a 31? I turned down her offensive offer as I did not believe the demo would actually be any better of a fit. Besides, why should I risk taking on ownership of a used article that I would probably have to resell for much less than I would hope to get should I have to privately sell the new one?
I have now asked her to not contact me any further. Her response was "LMAO". Her customer service has been nothing but consistenly abysmal. I firmly believe that even though the terms of the transaction were non-refundable/exchangabe that an exception shoudl be made as I was not the one who made the mistake of incorrectly measuring my horse. I paid for a service and expected a professional service in return, but never recieved it.
