December 20, 2016 Daniels serviced my furnace and replaced gas valve and ignition sensor. November 18, 2017 my furnace pilot light would not start so furnace wasn't working. I called them and told them that the gas valve may be faulty. After a few phone calls with them, it was determined that the gas valve was under warranty because it was less than a year that the value was installed. They told me there would be no cost to me for the gas valve, but that I would have to pay for the labor and trip charge. They reduced the trip charge to $49 and told me I could use a $25 off coupon. They told me over the phone that the repairs would be less than 2 hours and the labor is $95 per hour.
The service technican came over and checked the furnance. It was determined that it was the gas valve. The service technician told me it was $450 for labor. I told him no. The part and labor last year was $421. It took them one hour to install the gas valve and ignition sensor last year so I told them I would not pay for more than one hour of labor. They wanted to charge me $95 an hour to go pick up the replacement gas valve and $95 for installation.
After several very frustrating conversations, they finally agreed to charge me $95 for one hour of labor for installation and $49 trip charge. I asked for the $25 off coupon they promised over the phone. They said no. They did not honor the $25 off coupon.
Personally I think they should have replaced the gas valve for free since they installed the faulty gas valve in the first place.
