I paid pre-paid Dacast.com for one year of video hosting but due to their technical glitches, they were unable to provide the service I paid for and they are unwilling to refund the amount I paid.
The amount is $228.00 (USD), approximately $306 (CAD), I am disputing this because the service I paid for was not provided by the merchant.
A customer service representative from Dacast said they would give me a refund due to their ongoing technical issues that prohibited our customers to watch our videos without interruption, but when I asked to accept the refund they said I misunderstood and would not provide the refund.
The technical issues have caused a loss to our business and has aggravated our customers. For months, Dacast promised to fix these issues but in the end they were unsuccessful and therefore could not provide the service we paid for. We were not able to utilize their service during the months their team tried to fix their technical issues. Since we prepaid for an entire year for their service, we also could not benefit for any of those months.
Clearly, we were at a loss here. When we paid for a service that is not usable, and the business is aware that they did not provide the service as promised, we consider this to be fraudulent. So far, all Dacast has said to us is that I have missed my refund window of 30 days, yet they asked me to 'hang in there' while they said they would resolved the issues. I feel I was more than patient.
They could not fix the issues and then they say I missed my window. Besides experiencing just a poor business practice, I believe I have been ripped off. Why would Dacast wish to keep my money for pre-paid future video hosting that I cannot utilize? What did I pay for?
