They tell people the handles are made from dinosaur bone and also turquoise in other High dollar Stone Light Jasper turquoise which looks identical to the dinosaur bone in pattern they do make a composite dinosaur bone which is not real Michael Prater knives there is no certificate stating it is authentic bone and turquoise also Jasper someone needs to do something about it they are a ripoff!! So watch what you buy from them. I purchase them from Cutlery Corner network.
Beware the pretty knives on their up to 8 hour long TV infomercials as you don't always get what you see on TV !
I purchased over $ 7,000 worth of their "dealer special" knife packages over a 3 month period, containing over 5,000 total individual knives to stock my new "Arizona Knife & Cutlery World" location in Arizona.
They claimed according to their retail selling price that the retail value of the knives was a total of $58,936.85. Sounds like a real good high end profit margin doesn't it ? That's an 842% markup ! Unheard of in any type of tools, knives, power tools, automotive supply, or even jewelry sales, right ?
When I compared the value of the quality I got with the reality of dealing with my ther jobbers and wholesale suppliers of knives and cutlery items that I have dealt with for the over 30 years I have been in business, the actual "get in the real world of reality" total retail value was more like a little over $15,500 and I'm being generous and very optomistic even setting that high of an actual retail value on my over $7,000.00 investment in their products.
That is only a markup profit margin of 221%, which is such a "far cry" from their "retail value" of 842% that they don't even exist in the same universe !
Oh, well, that's OK, because when I get done with them in the federal court system my profit margin should end up being about 1,000,000% or better, after you include actual damages, punitive damages, exemplary damages, for so many "causes of action" that the "heading page" on the federal suit action should be about 5 pages long just taking one sentence to list each violation of federal law they have committed.
PLUS, OH YES, THERE IS EVEN ANOTHER PLUS TO ALL OF THIS AT THE BITTER END. I INTEND TO GO THROUGH THE COMPLAINT PROCESS WITH THE F.C.C. (FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION) AND ALSO NAME "DIRECTV" AND "SPIKE NETWORK" AS CO-DEFENDANT(S) BECAUSE THEY ARE PROFITING FROM AIRING THEIR COMMERCIALS DAY AND NIGHT ALSO. YOU SEE THEY GET A "CUT" OR "PIECE OF THE PIE" FOR EVERY DOLLAR THAT CUTLERY CORNER NETWORK TAKES IN !
Not to mention the other "bonus" that will come out of this, as I just happen to have a law degree and used to donate my time to the American Civil Liberties Union Indigent Inmate Appeals Program. My win/loss ratio of 637 appeals filed is 591 wins and 46 losses.
And just like a "good infomercial" the next "bonus" you will see along with this ladies and gentlemen is the cost Mr. Jim Frost who owns this whole outfit, will have to pay his attorney's is about $850.00 per hour, and on a federal "fraud" action such as this encompassing such a huge number of "victims", he will have to have a team of lawyers and legal researchers with what I would estimate to be at least 8000 to 12000 billable hours estimated before it's over, hum, let's see at that level that would make his "legal attorney's fees" be a total of $6,800.000 to upwards of over $10,200,000.00!
And now finally comes the real end "bonus" and that is there is so much evidence in this matter of a total pattern of deliberate deception and fraud that it will make the Barney Madoff Ponzi Scheme case pale in comparison, just by the sheer number of "victims" involved, the "millions of fraudulent dollars they are taking in monthly", could be classified justifiably in my "First Amendment" protected free speech opinion to be qualified for federal criminal prosecution under the RICO statues as a "continuing criminal enterprise involving more than 3 participants or conspirators". In that realm, I think Mr. Frost, and that obnoxiously loud, "hillbilly accented" Mr. Boone who reminds me of the old "snake oil" hucksters and ripoff artists of 100 years ago, could do at least 40-80 years in a federal prision because in a RICO case the lawyers involved on both sides have dubbed the sentences "a Buck Rogers Time Machine", and the "feds" did away with parole many years ago, so they will be "standing on their heads", so to speak in the lawyering profession for every lousy, long day they get sentenced to !
Have a nice day Mr. Frost
See ya in court soon, and my last comment to you sir, is "see ya, and d**n sure don't wanna be ya" ("ya all hillbillys"
I've ordered several knives from the "Frost Family", brands of knives, anywhere from cutlerycorner.net, to nationwide distributors and small businesses. I knew full well that the Frost brand was mostly made in China. I didn't and do not have a problem with that. China has actually shown over the years that quality knifes can be and are produced there. I am old enough to remember back in the day when you stopped at a gas station and saw a pocket knife for $2.99 setting on the counter, upon first glance you are intrigued then you pick it up and inspect it further and see the numerous flaws, poorly made, low grade steel and a tang stamp that said one word, "Pakistan".
I am in no way slurring anyone of Pakistani ancestory in the past or currently living now. I am talking about the quality of knives that have came from Pakistan the country. Those "$3.00", knives at the gas station lasted about as long as it took to spend the $3.00. In other words not long. It is my "opinion", that Pakistan as a country lacks the modern factories, skilled laborers and materials it takes to make a quality knife. That is okay as not everyone can afford a name brand and/or expensive knife. I however demand more quality of a knife but I am also aware of the phrase "you get what you pay for". The Frost Family brand in question is "Valley Forge".
I've seen it on the television program hosted by www.cutlerycorner.net & in magazine distributors and it shows a tang stamp of "Valley Forge/Newark, NJ". I have not heard from the t.v. or in the magazine that the brand Valley Forge was made in Pakistan, NOT Newark, NJ. The knife I purchased was made of Damascus steel and white smooth bone, with file work on the top of the tang. The handle when looking at the knife from the knife point you can see filler in the middle of said handle scales as if it was ground out for a rounded tang or a "through-tang", style knife. It was clearly packed full of filler that was very unevenly dried. Then on the spine of said knife in the file work, it looked as if in one area of filing, the handle area was actually cut into 2 pieces. Yet again, more filler and uneven. I took said knife and grabbed the blade end & the handle end and the knife actually could visually be seen to flex at the spot where it looked as if the blade had been cut in to two pieces. Judging by the amount of flex and actual movement I'd say the "knife", was indeed 2 pieces.
Now, as I said, I demand more from a knife regardless of price. I have or currently own knives made by Randall, Busse, Benchmade, Hen & Rooster, Kissing Crane, Case, Tops, Kershaw, Ka-Bar, Cold Steel, ZT, Schrade/Uncle Henry, Schrade/Walden, Marble, Buck Camillus, CRKT, ESEE, Bulldog Brand (Pre-Frost ownership), Puma and finally Frost and Frost owned brands. The Valley Forge was the first one of the Frost Family I saw from Pakistan and most definitely the worst quality made knife to date from them. I have not asked for a refund, I do not want a refund. I didn't expect $500 quality from a $35.00 knife from Frost. However, I did expect a fixed blade knife to be in 1 piece. Not 2! I'd advise anyone to stay away from "Valley Forge Cutlery", as they were no where near close to being made in New Jersey. Far, very far from it. Lastly, I'd add that this will be my last purchase from Frost.
His great patriotism he fains and the "Red, White & Blue", themed knives he makes are far from how he conducts his business. He claims to be American as Tennessee, but the reality is he's as American as a Wall Street tycoon in New York whose only concern is the "bottom dollar".
I called to cancel my order after several days have a pending status I was told that my order has not shipped yet and that I would have to call back the next day when I call back my order had already shipped therefore they could not give me a refund because they don't have the package in their hand so now I have to refuse the package when it shows up if it shows up and when it gets back to them they'll issue the refund but if it gets lost in the mail orchids delivered to someone else's house then I'm screwed into paying for it I'm considering getting an attorney
