I was driving home from work and heard a strange noise, I turned around and saw smoke coming from the inside trunk so I pulled over. The check hybrid battery light came on and then immediately the car shut off completely, I grabbed my purse and got out as the car filled with smoke.
About 1 minute later it burst into flames and was completely burned by the time the fire department made it. I’ve been dealing with Kia for almost 2 weeks now because of this and they aren’t doing anything to help me nor do they seem to care about what happened.
If you have a Kia niro please take it to the dealership and get it checked, when it shut down I could not open the back. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if anyone was with me.
I purchased a new 2016 Soul three months ago. The vehicle is supposed to get around 25 MPG City and 30 MPG highway, mine averages around 21 miles per gallon! I brought the car in for service today and was told the vehicle gets 31.5 miles per gallon! The car has 2000 miles on it and I've calculated the mileage every time I fill the tank, which is quite often, it got 16 MPG when I first checked, 16! I was fed the longest list of BS from the Service Manager you could imagine. For example, he said it was the cheap gas I was buying, but I reminded him that the tank was filled with the cheap gas when he supposedly got 31.5 miles to the gallon, ooops! Then he said that gas evaporates in the tank when the car is parked, really? Then he said the car display reads 350 miles range when the tank is full, but when I returned to the vehicle with a full tank, the display read 305 miles, which divided by the 14.2 gallons the tank holds, is around 21 miles per gallon, which is pretty much dead on correct, but he had yet another answer for that, blah, blah blah, that display changes he said. Avoid this Dealership and this vehicle.
