Crowdstar is the owner of a very popular online fashion game called Covet. It is played by thousands of people through out the world.

I have been playing Covet for a year. At first it was good and fun. Slowly I started to notice descrepancies in how the say the game works and how it truly works.

Over the last couple of months things have come to a head. Large groups of players within the game started reporting fraud and lies about how the main parts of the game works. These reports of fraud are backed up with some pretty foolproof statistics collected by players.

Many players have confronted Crowdstar about the workings of the game. They are either getting blatant lies or no reply at all.

They have been changing rules and pricing without warning. Players can purchase ,with their money, in app diamonds that can be used to purchase items to help you with the game. Some of these purchases and diamonds have been disappearing and Crowdstar will not refund for these disappearing purchases. They won't even acknowledge this is happening.

Lately they have not been giving players bonuses the clearly won. These bonuses are needed to keep playing the game. This plus more expensive requirements to enter one of their fashion events are now becoming out of reach for most players. They are forcing players to make in app purchases in order to keep playing once the get them addicted to the game. The game is very addictive. This game is be played ovwhelmingly by adults.

A major part of the game is voting on outfits players make according to an Event Covet comes up with. The ultimate vote is to get a score of 5.6 which is called a top look and as a prize the player gets 2000 diamonds to use in future events. Covet swears up and down voting and scores are only done and determined by other players.

Some recent glitches clearly showed that covet determines the number of these Top Looks in order to keep the number of diamonds they give away Down. On top of this some large groups have run some experiments that showed voting is done by algorithms within their computer code. But they still continue to lie about this.

Like I said the game is very addictive and is set up that you make many online friends. Because of this most of us continue to play even with the lies, stealing and non responsiveness by Crowdstar/Covet.

I wrote the report in hopes of exposing Crowdstars unfair practices and making them accountable for fix these practices.

My name is Loretta Zwickel and I am 67years old I used to design for Imvu many years ago and found it rewarding and relaxing So I joined these games and at first it was great! My husband is ill so I am up with him late in the evening (dementia) We returned to America from living in Netherlands for his health.

Everyday I have to charge on my v Credit card to get diamonds to purchase what is required for the game Half the time they double charge me Or they send part of the order Now it is getting out of hand I have contacted my bank and they did back charge in dispute After all this is pixels you receive nothing tangible.

I have called California no response just voice mail I have posted all over their website on Facebook what they are doing by ripping people off is wrong the respond We will get back to you But they never do. Now they have so called Challenges that force you to buy things like Viking suits This is supposed to teach fashion and interior design not mythology or fantasy.

I am out quite a bit of money to play with dolls on the internet But I have no one in this country albeit I was a legal Professional in USA for many years.

They are also advertising on the fashion houses if you are over 40 Do Not Apply That is called Age Discrimination I want to enjoy and I don’t want to make drama but they are arrogant Charge too much and don’t give you what you paid for That is called Rip Off I have been paying the charges in full But alerting my bank I did report them to BBB and they did nothing.

They delete your purchased inventory and force you to keep buying so that you’ll spend money. Not clear you have five uses per item and then don’t even stick to that policy.

All of my inventory and progress and data that I paid for was wiped out after an app update and customer service offers no help and barely responds. I've sent over 100 emails since May 2017 to get this resolved. No one has fixed it or refunded me as of yet.

Define scam?

I don't know if it is scamming? However, they consistently take money and through server problems, software update problems and just bad organisation - it is often impossible to get the service/product offered that convinced you to spend money.

I contacted Crowdstar after accidentally unlinking my Design Home app from Facebook (I wanted to clear the cache, under the game's advanced settings UI because it tends to hog masses of space) the unlink option is right next to the clear cache) and losing game progress, in-game purchases, inventory, diamond credits, friends'list. I have since tested this by unlinking other games from Facebook, re-linking, and had no problems retrieving my game progress, only failing with Design Home. I specifically stated to Crowdstar: My DH and Facebook accounts were connected for at least 10 of the 12 months I've been playing. (Nevertheless, Crowdstar agents Kevin and Cherry kept asking me about it, as if there was a way to unlink those accounts without linking them to begin with. I did not uninstall the game. My device's backup settings for restoring apps were on by default. Re-linking the accounts failed to restore my game, but I sent a detailed e-mail, with screenshots proving my accounts were linked, plus proof of purchases via Google play, plus proof of diamonds credited to my account in the past week.

I obviously could not prove how many "diamonds" I had at the time, but I thought I was providing enough proof to be given the credits, plus the in-game purchases. I also sent screenshots of posts from other players, on the DH Facebook page, complaining about the same issue, all within the past week. Of course, their posts went completely ignored. Customer service rep Cherry sent me a message contradicting her (and fellow agent "Kevin") previous statement: now she said game progress, purchases, etc. are irretrievably lost once unlinked from Facebook, my proof of purchases means nothing, and said purchases are non-refundable. In other words, yes, I made a mistake, but their instructions failed, and they basically changed their story and ripped me off just to avoid addressing an issue. This company is not to be trusted, even if I was gullible enough to pour money into this game, another overlooked bug might appear, and they'll simply steal more of my money. In short: Stay away from this company, don't try to earn free diamonds via their Tapjoy offerwall, since most offers are for scam companies, and there's no point in purchasing anything since they don't bother even looking at major bugs, refuse to stand by their own directions, ignore complainants, and might just zap your money into their pockets, never to be seen again, leaving you high and dry.

Crowdstars game design home has taken over $200 worth of real money purchased in diamonds and inventory that was wiped after a technical fault. No response from support, no refund. These people are straight out scammers and need to be held accountable for ripping off tons of players.

Definitely Dodgy

I started playing Design Home in March, but soon saw it as an expense not a game. To get anywhere you have to spend real money, which isn’t cheap, you can buy 3000 diamonds for $2.99 but one chair can cost this much, a couch can cost $10,000 so 3000 diamonds is nothing. I spent a few hundred, then during a glitch I lost all my inventory and money. No response from support after tons of emails. After reading online I found a number of reports on scam sites about same issue. I believe Crowdstar are aware of this glitch and do not care, it’s money for them. This game is all about money, not the players. They are a disgrace to the gaming industry. I will never support Crowdstar again.
