In 2017 I was hired due to my over a decade of demo experience in pet food to work the Science Diet demo jobs. Brenda Thompson (whom i was told had originally worked for Walmart) was my immediate line manager and at first all seemed normal.
I got good hours and she seemed decent in person. When I told her that my relative(also babysitter) was in the hospital and I had also been sick and had an upcoming trip paid for and planned, Brenda took it upon herself to begin scheduling me for more work without consulting with me first (this was not a full time job).
I explained the above to her and she basically told me tough stuff and began using inappropriate language and her response to anyone and everyone that does not let her control their life/schedule is "you are to be on a conference call at 8am". Knowing a friend that she had fired, I knew what the conference call was, it was to discipline/humiliate me for being sick and having other priorities and I promptly declined and quit.
She emailed me back and said that she accepted my resignation, then went behind my back and LIED to human resources and said that she "terminated me" basically, for not obeying her orders and letting her run my life, so to speak. I went back and forth with HR and one minute I was told the resignation (which I had proof of via email) was valid and I would be eligible for rehire.
So, about 6 mos to a year later, I attempted to apply to rejoin the team in another department and Ursula (with HR) told me that I was "ineligible for rehire because Brenda Thompson had said I was termed". I told her that I had given proof that I resigned and Brenda had accepted it and I fought with HR managment for a while and finally gave up, because Brenda's lies had somehow been believed.
Brenda Thompson should never be allowed to work in management again and any job who looks at her should read this statement. She is simply unethical, a liar, and should not be in a managment position.
After the company had blacked us out from working over the Christmas holidays, my 2nd day back at work on the 2nd, was in a car wreck on my way back to work. I sustained a major injury to my ankle and was unable to work. Assured by my manager and HR everything was fine, my job was secure, I was told to just worry about recovering. I filled out all the forms, jumped thru every hoop.
Finally in April I was released by the doctor to go back to work, I was told that the team I had been working on had been eliminated and that I needed to contact recruiting to be given a new assignment. Call after call, email after email, I heard nothing. Finally in the HR department I found one person to help me. And guess what they gave her the run around to. I begged and pleaded all I wanted was to go back to work...thats all. Finally after blowing me off for an additional 2 days I was informed that I had been "EXITED".
No calls, no emails, nothing just screw you goodbye. I have worked with Crossmark for 2 years. They have had me criss cross the southeast countless times, shorted mt mileage and money, but I consider myself a team player so unless it was a huge amount, I let it slide. I have always given 110% everyday I worked, my work being impressive enough to become a team lead in 2 years of employment. A pretty amazing accomplishment in this line of work, and yet when I needed them the most, they threw me under the bus.
As a result if anyone from Crossmark reads these things? Know this. Because of this I have had to sell off almost everything I own, my wife is disabled, there is only me. We have been forced to apply for welfare, and im facing all kinds of legal trouble from creditors I can no longer pay. I have nothing to lose. So Im coming after you. Big Time.
I was told I am eligible for rehire. which means that this company shut me out soely to undermine my pay scale, and keep me from applying for unemployment, hell they still list me as a current employee. I have a meeting with a lawyer next week, who assures me that not only have these people broken Federal employment law, but also that I have a very valid complaint for a formal lawsuit...like I said I literally have nothing left to lose.
