I saw on my credit report that Cornerstone Credit Services had reported me as owing Fairbanks Memorial Hospital a bill for nearly $5,000 that I had already resolved with the Hospital Billing Department; the hospital had written off the debt after they had confirmed I had made goodwill monthly payments to them for 13 months in a row, without fail. Having verified this, the hospital sent me a new invoice / final bill confirming there was now a balance of zero owed. I had been assured that the Outside Credit Collect Agency, Cornerstone Credit Services, would be contacted by FMH and told the balance was taken care of and to cancel their collections processes and remove active reports from the Credit Report bureaus. I have checked my credit report after waiting a month to give them time to remove it from the report; Cornerstone Credit Services did not do so. I then Disputed the Claims with both TransUnion and Equifax. They contacted Cornerstone and Cornerstone told them it was a DEBT STILL OWED... Despite the fact that had Cornerstone contacted the hospital they "claim" to be collecting on Behalf of... WHICH THEY REFUSED TO DO (or, if they HAD, refused to comply with cancelling the now zeroed out debt with the hospital). Cornerstone THEN replied back to both TransUnion and Equifax that the DEBT was still VALID AND OWED. Naturally, this is a LIE... since the hospital has written off the debt, why would Cornerstone Credit Services make such a claim... the ONLY conceivable reason is they hope to get money out of me and keep it for themselves since the Hospital has already clearly cancelled the debt previously owed. This is clearly a VIOLATION of Collection Agency Regulations per Alaska Statues under which they are required to operate.
This company has taken all of my Alaska permanent fund division check through the court system even though i had payment arrangements. How could they collect on bills that are way past seven years all these should have been written off already. I mean they need to reimburse my Alaska PFD's as they cant collect on old bills these bills are from the 1980s and they still continue to take them to this date. I want this stopped I heard this is a bogus company and they are ripping me off my money that I work hard for I am a widow still working making ends meet to make a living. I cannot deal with them no more and their phone calls and harassment i bet their not even a legitimate company please research into this matter for me.
Cornerstone collections has been working with me over some debts. Mostly from GCI, a cell phone and cable company. When my husband had cancer we cancelled services with this company. Bills were suppose to be $400 a month, but was over $1000 each month with extra fees, overage, etc. we found extra charges and some were taken off. They had lost a Payment of $384 for three months and threatened to cancel service, but it was found in their GCI treasury department, after three months. We asked to dispute our $2000 bill, from two months and no manager called so we cancelled. My husband has been battling cancer, which accrued more bills. We’ve been paying bills at a level of importance and never did get around to debating the bills with GCI.
Last September a bill collector was very aggressive over the phone and argumentative about my insurance company and tried to bully me into making payments. I asked his supervisor to not allow him to contact me, and have someone else contact me, less agressive. A process server came to serve me papers while I was at the gym, to take me to court for the debt, by Cornerstone Credit Services. The lady was rude and agressive to my 15 yr old son. Flashed a badge and threaten to have him arrested if he was lying about no knowing where I was, or if he’s hiding me at home. I watched the Home video, she definitely flashed a badge, but I cannot hear the threats to have him arrested. This is all over a GCI debt and things are going a little far, when my son is being threatened with jail time. We haven’t heard from the process server but have been making payments to the collection agency. Same aggressive and rude guy. He’s the only one who can take my payments they say. We weren’t able to make payments prior due to hardships and my husband was battling cancer. Going to 25 radiation sessions. 4 sessions of chemotherapy. In the hospital for a 5 day drip of two different chemotherapy, then a major surgery, where an 11 com tumor was taken from his leg. We are continueing to pay these bills, as well as GCI debt, which is at $6,000. For three months of service. Suppose to be $400 a month. Since leaving GCI, we went to Verizon and the bill has never gone over $400, in over a year. Any help to minimize this debt would be greatly appreciated.
