Do not do business with Gary Bras. I am blown away by his innability to see the important in taking care of his clients and maintaining a good reputation.
I am a 28 year old woman. I work my *** off and still struggle because I belive in working hard to get to where I am going. I was raising money to purchase a portion of a restaurant that I was extremely passionate about. I was working 100 hours plus a week (sweat equity), but needed to raise at least 100,000.00 to purchase and invest in the nesessary restorations of the vintage landmark. After meeting with several investors that had a very different vision then the one I believed in from the bottom of my heart, I reached out to my family to see if they would be interested in helping me secure lines of credit. My mother had been working with Gary on another family business. Gary had been promising my mother and Uncle for over a year that their million + investment was coming. Next week. Theres a hold up, 2 weeks the most. Next month. Next Friday.... etc. He's a slick talker and can really make you believe its coming in the amount that you need. Its bull s**t.
I couldnt have been more clear to Gary that if I could not raise at the very LEAST $100,000.00 that I could not do the deal. He informed me that from my credit alone I could riase up to $30,000. Here is where is ****** up big time. He told my family that he is 100% sure that the money for my uncle and mothers business was coming in and that with that money my mother could pay off some credit cards under my step fathers name and that he would be able to get my step fathers credit up enough to be able to raise another 90,000-120,000 and that it would take 60 for him to get my step fathers line of credit and 30 days to get my line of credit. Great news right!? This means that my family paper business is getting their money and my mother will finally be financially stable and that I am making my first big investement!
Well, Gary was only able to raise me $23,000. He was NEVER able to raise the million for my uncle and mother and now the business is closing and my mother is left jobless and in debt at 60 years old. I LOST my deal because I turned down all the investors thinking I was going to be able to do this alone with the help of Gary and my family. I was not able to purchase the restaurant. I now have to pay a lawyer to take on my case with the restaurant to get back any money that I did spend and to pay me back salary for my "sweat equity." I worked over 1000 hours on a project that led me no where because I trusted Gary had it under control and that this would lead me to great things.
WORST OF ALL.... Gary still expected me to pay him 10% on the $23,000.00 he raised me. When I explained to him that I am happy to give him 10% when he raises the rest of the money needed to purchase the restaurant, he flipped out... raising his voice, calling me names and throwing in my face that I signed a contract and he will take me to court. Yes, I did sign a contract saying that I would give 10% of money raised, but this was in trusting that he was rasing the other 77,000. I sucked it up and used my "new credit card" to pay Gary the $2,300. Now I lost my restaurant deal and still paying monthly bills on the $2,300 to pay off the ************ *******. He ****** up a whole family!!!! Shameless.
