After 19 years with core which like many started rough and ended worse, mike and jack made their driver policies untolerable and unsafe for the drivers. They were shorting drivers reimbursements, layover, breakdown, shorthaul and every other division of pay they thought they could get away with. They created policy that made it unhealthy and dangerous for the drivers on a daily basis by coercing them to not run the trucks for heat or air or they would slow the trucks down to reflect the idle time. They would make flimsy excuses for taking away safety and fuel bonuses. Mike was actually stupid enough to tell me one of the trucks got over 11 mpg so most of us didn't get a bonus. That was in 2009 I believe, the rest of the fleet was doing good to get 6 mpg. I know a couple of drivers that had heat strokes as a DIRECT result of their policies and many more that became ill along with one woman who died in a wreck because she couldn't sleep while wasting 8 hrs trying to get a tire fixed and had to drive all night to avoid missing an appt. They have no regard for the drivers well being or safety. Mike used to be a pretty good man to work for but over the years got increasingly greedy and was feeling a little more pressure from jacks thumb as the company grew. When I started they had trashy old cabovers that had over 90% of play in the steering and that was the good part. Then they started improving with newer equipment. It went pretty well until they moved to their current location and within days mike started acting like he'd completely lost his mind. They were never bashful about SUGGESTING we get a load there on time whatever it takes. I was very good at doing that so I guess I was an enabler for a while. I got tired of seeing them abuse the new drivers and helped them learn the ropes as quick as possible. When they decided to threaten me to stop idling or get my truck turned down to 56 mph I told him the loads would be delivered accordingly that I wouldn't drive extra hours to do the same work for less money or rest, he said I should clean my truck out, so I did. When I filed for unemployment mike and jack brought in some dumb*** attorney to argue the case that I quit, therefore not eligible for unemployment. The attorney was so ignorant that mike had to tell him to be quiet several times. Needless to say, they sided with the company after my witness (dispatcher), who wanted to keep his job and benefits, said he didn't hear the conversation although he was in the room. I don't blame Jay, he had health issues and needed the insurance and paycheck. I worked there for OVER 19 years and they still felt the need to screw me over. They have since let their fleet of trucks and trailers decay at the expense of driver comfort and safety. They still have most of the trucks they had when I left back in "09" and they were 3 years and older then. I would not recommend them as an employer to anyone.
