My daughter took her car to Cookson's Transmissions for an estimate on getting repairs made. She was able to drive the car there. She was told that they would do diagnostics and if they had to get into the transmission the normal overhaul cost would be $1,000.00.
After they removed the transmission and tore it apart, she got a call explaining what parts were needed and that the cost would be $4,200.00. They were told to not do repairs and just put it back together and we would come get it. We were then told that it could not be put back together and that before we could get the car back we would have to pay $500.00.
Several phone calls later she received a call from a female with Cookson's stating that the person she had been dealing with was just a salesman and didn't know pricing. She then quoted a price of $2,200.00
My daughter just spoke with the original person at Cookson's and he said the woman that called didn't know anything and was completely wrong and his price originally quoted stands.
My daughter has repeatedly asked to speak with the owner and all she is ever told is "I'll tell him you called". When I said I would physically go there to see the owner, I was told that he would call the police and have me thrown off the property.
It looks like we are going to pay $500.00 hostage money to get her car back so that we can get it to a reputable shop.
I have never experienced such rudeness, and being lied to by everybody with a company in my life. No recourse for now until we are in possession of the car.
