After agreeing on a price for a good sized repair job on my car, Jody took 60% of the agreed money up front. Then he called later and wanted more money. In total, I paid him 90% of the agreed upon price.
Jody never communicated with me except when he wanted more money and he would tell me things like - "paint booth in 4 weeks" - mostly to keep me shut up - but the project dragged on. That wasn't great, but it was OK, for a while. I just gave up and left him alone, that seemed to be what he wanted. After 18 months, I drove by, in the spring of 2015, a very rainy spring, and my car was sitting out in the rain and the black interior was exposed to UV rays. The vinyl roof had been stripped to bare metal, the body had a coat of poorly applied primer, and there was no weatherstripping to the interior or trunk. Water was getting in everywhere and primer does not protect gainst rust. It was as if he wanted me to get the car, every pieces was neatly packed into the vehicle, ready to go. The battery had been fully charged and the keys left in the ignition.
I called and sent letters by process server, no response. I had the car removed from the premises and taken to a different body shop. I filed a claim against him in small claims court but he didn't even show up. I won the judgment!
I am an old man and have had a lifetime of experiences with all kinds of people and businesses. I have NEVER been treated as poorly, as unethically, and as unprofessionally as this guy did to me. He actually has done a few top-notch body jobs on cars, but thte bulk of his income obviously comes from scamming anybody and everybody whom he thinks will fall for his deceit.
