To begin with, I had a bank account that I had closed and because it had a negative balance I was taking care of said bank started charging me an awful amount of interest. I told them that I had paid what was owed and the rest was going to have to be collected some other way.
It has been 7 years and in January 2015, I was served garnishment papers for the amount of $1134.96. At that time my employer garnished my wages until the full amount of the garnishment was taken care of. At that point the sheriff sent a check to Convergence Receivables to cover what was collected. I filed all my paperwork thinking everything was taken care of because if you go to Iowa Courts Online and look at the case number it shows paid in full.
On December 15, 2015, I again receive a garnishment from Convergence Receivables in the amount of $461.86 with the same case number on it. I decided to call Convergence to find out what it was for. At that time they told me that it was for my bank account. I spoke with a Paul who informed me that the amount I owed was $167.97. I asked if I could pay that amount and everything be taken care of and was told that he would have to email the attorney to see if that was acceptable.
I went to my employer and told them what I had done and what I was told. At that time they called to talk to them to tell them that they could pay right as we spoke. They spoke to a girl named Kayla. She said we would have to wait for the decision that Paul had already sent an email to the attorney.
The next day I called again and because I didn't get ahold of Ashley or Paul I spoke with a foreigner that I could not understand and her informed me that I would just have to deal with it.
