Concord Dry Cleaners does not post anything in their business about pricing or services offered. When dropping of items, they do not provide prices on your pick-up tags. The employees will not tell you the costs up front either. They do; however, add on services that cost more without your conset. For example, extra starch, heavy starch, quick turn around time requested, extra press, etc. All of these items and more, come with additional fees, which ad up quickly and could double the cost of services. I have repeatedly asked staff not to add these services on, but they still do. When I get the item back and confront them, they will say that the price is not because of the added services, ut instead becuase of the recent price increase to services over all. But there is no way to prove/disprove this, since they don't post prices anywhere and won't disclose costs upfront. I could bring in the same dress 3 times, and have 3 different prices based on which employee took it in, and how many servives they chose to gouge me with that day.
They also damage items. On one occasion, they heavily starched an organza gown that you could not use starch on, permanently damaging it. They added "heavy starch" on the ticket, despite me asking for no add-on services. On another, they torn the hem on another dress, and told me it was a manufaturer defect. I did not go back for several months, and stupidly I went back one last time recently with a never worn, new top. This red top with white lettering surrounded by gold trim, was completely destoyed. Again, they added on an up-charge service to the ticket.
The top came back with many large black liquid stains, it was discolored with black all over, covered in black lint, and and the lettering damaged. The texture of the top was now rough, not soft and fluffy as before, as if it was 20yrs old and worn to a nub. The manager refused to cooperate, and refused a refund. Kept saying that the damage was a "manufacturer defect", and blamed it on how the clothing was made. Seriously! He was rude, insulting, and demanded that I "prove to him how he damged the item". I was even refused a refund for the dry cleaning expense. The manager said their, "registers are setup so that they are not allowed to give refunds at all, otherwise we'd be handong miney back to costumers all day long." Well, that speaks volumes.
Completely unethical business. Nothing is disclosed upfront, so they can change prices on the fly and illegally add on services you did not request. When they are confronted, they just claim that is the basic price, but you have no proof. They damage clothes, and refuse to remedy the situation.
