Complete Mobile Marine Reviews

hire steve chapmon with complete mobile marine at your own risk. Below is how he treated me and my boat.

On july 4th 2021, i ran into an underwater tree and broke part of my engine. I hired steve chapmon because he lived on his boat at the same marina my boat was located so i assumed he could repair the engine faster than other mechanics because he could walk to my boat for repairs. After a few weeks i heard from other boat owners on lake norman that steve chapmon is known on the lake to take forever to fix things. This made me nervous, but steve chapmon assured me he was working on it. By the time the fall rolled around, steve claimed he was waiting on parts that were stuck on ships because of the supply chain crisis. I said okay i understand.

By january of 2022 there was still no progress and i called steve chapmon to fire him because i wanted to hire someone else so my boat would be ready by the spring time. Steve chapmon claimed the parts he had been waiting on finally arrived and that he could have the engine fixed by the end of january. I told him okay i'll give you more time because i just wanted it fixed.

On february 1st, 2022 i called to check the status and steve chapmon told me he had been in florida for two weeks because his mom died. I shared my condolences and said no problem, i just need my engine fixed by march 1st, 2022 because i have to move my boat to another marina and that will be hard to do on one engine. Steve's response was "100% it will be done by then".

On february 26th, 2022 i called steve and asked if the boat was ready, he says he just needs another week, that he spoke with the marina and they would allow me to leave the boat for an extra week so he could complete the repairs. I said okay. A week passes, he says he needs more time. I tell him no matter what i have to move the boat in four days because i was charged by the marina which meant i was paying for two wet slips because of steve chapmon. His response "come hell or high water it will be finished, i will work on it every day all day. Your boat is my number one priority." on the days he claimed he would be there all day i went to my boat to check Waited around for hours) and steve never showed.

I ended up moving the boat on one engine to the new marina. Then i called steve chapmon and asked for the return of my engine parts. When i met him at the marina, he showed me the parts They were being stored in the back of his truck exposed to the elements) he said i could not take them unless i give him $3,000. I said no, you did nothing but remove my engine parts and store them in the back of your truck the past 9 months.

I asked him to provide reciepts or an itemized invoice to show why he should be paid that amount. He said no, if you want the parts you have to give me $3,000. I called the police to meet me at the marina, when they arrived steve confirmed they were my parts but told the police he purchased his own parts that were inside the parts he was holding, and was not paid. I said if thats true, show us the new parts or provide receipts to prove you purchased parts. His response was "i'm not giving you receipts so you know how much i pay for parts".

The police said if he has parts he paid for in there that he has a right to hold until payment. I said thats fine, what parts did he purchase, he is not proving it, if he proves it i will be happy to pay. I said he has lied to me the past 9 months. Of course the officers didn't know what i had been through. The officer on the scene said if there is a chance parts he paid for are in there he is allowed to hold my property After speaking with an attorney and other police officers i found out the officer on the scene was wrong. That i should have been able to leave with my property and steve would have had to take me to civil court for payment for alleged "work"). As i walked away, steve asked what i want to do, i replied "i'll see you in court".

Within minutes after leaving steve chapmon texts me this "to solve the problem today, pay me $1,500 cash or paypal because i really don't want to deal with this anymore". I said fine, because at this point i just wanted my engine parts back so i could try to have my boat fixed before warm weather. I was not about to give him cash because i know he wanted that to avoid paying taxes so i sent him my paypal info for a paypal request.

Instead of sending me a $1,500 request, steve sends me a $1,500 echeck on paypal and a $1,500 request. He claimed the echeck was an accident and said he wouldn't cancel the echeck if i wanted to send him $3,000 on paypal. I of course said no because i am aware of that type of scam. After a few hours i texted steve and told him i could meet at the marina for my engine parts in 30 minutes and when i see the parts i will complete the $1,500 paypal request. He said that was not going to happen until he was able to cancel the echeck. By this time i was irrate, as anyone would be.

After an attorney assured me there is no law for stealing your own property i went to his truck and repossed my property from the back of his truck. The next day he called the cops and said a transmission was stolen from the back of his truck He never mentioned it was my property), so i received a phone call from the police. My attorneys told me not to speak with them, the attorney called them back. They told the attorney it was considered breaking and entering even though it was in the bed of a truck but said if me and steve could work things out they would not pursue charges.

My attorney called steve and asked how much he wanted, steve said $3,000. The attorney said my client is not going to pay that amount, steve replied "make a counter". Our counter was $1,000, steve said i'll drop it to $2,900. At this point steve was using the police potentially charging me with a crime as leverage and wanted to cash in.

My attorney ended up coming down on his $1,800 fee to $1,300 so i would pay the original agreed $1,500 and the $500 i "saved" in attorneys fee could go towards steve receiving $2,000. That ended things with steve and the police.

Recently another mechanic opened up the engine parts to work on it and said it had a lot of water damage inside from sitting in the back of a truck for so long and he said we have to send it to a specialist in nj to put it back together. The new mechanic also confirmed there were no new parts in there, once again steve lied.

I'm writing this in hopes no one else has to go through a costly headache like this as i did. Had other boat owners on the lake took the time to tell their bad expeirences after hiring steve chapmon i could have avoided this mess because i always check for reviews.
