I attended this school May 1. I received financial aid. This school failed to send me a refund check on the day at questioned. I got the run around saying things that were not true. I believe this school is trying to take my refund. I would feel better if they will just give it back to the department of education. I feel something needs to be done about this school.
Columbia College recently changed from 6 week sessions to 8 week sessions. When accepting financial aid, there is no option to have it dispersed throughout the entire year despite needing to take summer classes to stay on track. I enrolled in classes for May and was told two days after classes began that financial aid would not cover it. The person I spoke to in the office confirmed that this knowledge is not given nor is there a way to know that one must select to have year round disbursement (despite financial aid being allocated for a full year of time in the description). As such, I am unable to do classes over the summer without paying out of pocket. Any kind of advance information when either accepting financial aid or during enrollment for the summer would have been acceptable. The lack of communication caused severe issues for my finances (as I dont work while I attend school and rely on financial aid for living expenses) and has delayed my progress with school.
