I spoke with Doug about purchasing a puppy via his litters due. I was,asked to put down a $500 deposit for female pick of the litter between Denero and Sid. When the time came my calls, emails, texts were never answered. And I never received a pup. I proceeded to ask other customers from his fb page if they received their puppies..and of course they also had not. And also hadnt received any communication. I further found pics of his so called breeding stock on other breeeders pages..who are confirmed breeders. They werent even his dogs
On March 29, 2015 we paid in full for a full-breed Rottweiler from Doug and Jolyn Harrington, owners of Colorado Rottweiler. The breed was chosen and the puppy was born on July 4th. We contacted the owners on 9/5/15 to arrange a pick-up date of the puppy. The owner, Doug, stated the puppy was getting it's shots and was getting weaned, and to call him back in one week. We called on 9/11/15 and the owner stated the puppy had a respiratory infection and was on antibiotics.
He told us to call back in another week to ten days. We have attempted numerous times on both his cell as well as the co-owner’s (his wife) cell phone. We called the owner thee times on 9/21/15. We finally got ahold of him and he stated if the puppy was not better by Wednesday 9/23/15, he would take him into the vet. On 9/23/15 we called him at 5:18pm and he stated he did not have the results yet and would call us back by 8:00pm. We did not hear back from him. We attempted to call him on 9/25/15 with no response. We called again on 9/27/15, with again no response. Called on 9/28/15, three times on 9/29/15 and in addition sent an email, called on 9/30/15 with no response.
On 10/1/15 we received an email stating “my phone is out of order....please use other linev .....will need to get another pup from different litter.....that one had a immune problem.....thanks...doug”. We emailed him back and called again twice . Then an employee of Colorado Rottweiler called us back stating he was “calling back to put out fires, but that the owner would get back to us the next day, but that he couldn’t promise us anything”. We did not hear anything for four days, so we called again on 10/5/15 with no response. On 10/6/15 in the morning we sent another email to contact him. No response.
I called from a different phone number and the owner picked up the phone. I stated I have been trying to get ahold of him with no response. He stated they were in the process of moving and had four new litters and was too busy to call back. I proceeded to state that due to lack of communication and still not having a puppy, and no solutions from the owner, that I request a refund. He stated that he would get to it when he gets to it.
I stated that was not acceptable and he told me he would do it early next week (the week of 10/12/15). I told him I needed a receipt and an exact date that I would get refunded. He told me he that he would get to it next week and hung up on me. My husband then called him and he picked up the phone. He told him I wanted a refund and he proceeded to give me excuses that he was busy moving and would get to it next week when more funds come in as people pick up new litters. He stated he has moving expenses to deal with first, then he would get us our refund. Then he hung up on him as well. On 10/7 I called East Lake vet, located in Conifer CO, to ask about the sick litter that our puppy was in, They have no record of the breeder bringing in any puppies.....What Happened to the pippies, We think he sold them to others and kept our money.
I'll keep this as short and sweet as possible - DO NOT send this man or his conniving family a dime! They are all in on it - His wife Jolyn and his daughter Anne that is the "vet to their puppies". I wish I would have found these reports on him before sending him my money.
Everything everyone has said he does to them, he did to me. Promised me a GREAT dog, talked fast saying puppies were limited so I'd better send the money fast to assure I get one, even let me go see one (that's ALL I saw too, just ONE puppy...odd right? Considering how many he supposedly has according to his Facebook page and website). Then, when it came time to actually deliver, Bam. My puppy from my promised liter got sick...I had to wait until the next liter was due. So, I waited. That's when I started getting ignored.
What became humerous was when I had my boyfriend call and pretend he was interested in getting a puppy - Doug was REAL quick to return that phone call. When he told Doug who he really was, Doug pulled the worst excuse I've ever heard and said, "Oh well I'm on this medication and I've forgotten which (my name) is which, I'm in communication with 5 girls that have that same name."...give me a break.
When he was told we wanted our money back, he had the balls to say, "Okay, let me sell a few more dogs and make some money then I can send you your money back in a month."
He doesn't live at the addresses he gives people that want to see the dogs. He made that very obvious when I went to see the puppy. Numerous reg flags when I was at that house, one being there was ONE big dog upstairs and I saw ONE puppy. He pulls these stunts so much he can't have people know where he really lives.
If anyone pays with PayPal you are in luck. Seeing as how Doug is a coward and ignores you once he has your money, that is the only way you can probably get your money back once you file a claim/dispute with them.
I truly believe in karma, and this man and his family all have it coming to them.
