Collins College Reviews

Told my credits would transfer to any college. They were not. Never able to get me a job as my degree was not a degree that anyone was honoring.

I am 37 years old and still trying to attain a legit degree in an industry I have worked in for nearly 20 years. Upon completion of my AAS from Collins I wanted to pursue a bachelors at a university. As everyone knows, no one knows of any school that will accept these credits.

I am only able to get work when I leave the school off of my resume.

I began my education all over from scratch to get a legit degree so I may obtain a job that fits my skill set and experience.

I have been working full time and back at school full time for the past 2 years and have a semester before earning a REAL associates degree.

BACK TO WHERE I WAS WHEN I GRADUATED FROM COLLINS IN 2001

I would like to file a formal complaint against Collins College for unfair, unethical, and illegal practices. I would also like to be a part of any current lawsuits against Collins College or be provided with the proper legal resouces to move forward with my complaint. I attended Collins College in 2004 and stopped my education as soon as I found out about information that they didn't disclose to me upon enrollment. I was told by the school financial rep that I did not qualify for Title IV funding (Pell Grant and Stafford loans) and in order to proceed with schooling there I had to apply for a private education loan. I however did qualify for Title IV funding since myself and my parents were low income and I did not exceed the limits of the funding. Come to find out that the reason why I couldn't get Title IV funding was because they were not an accredited school so the Department of Education did not allow that school to utilize such funds.

I questioned my account when I received by first bill for the semester or quarter. I realized that the school had some classes on my invoice that I was not taking at Collins, since I transferred those credits in from my previous college. I disputed the charges with thier billing department and they confirmed that this was accurate because I was charged for the time I was in the program for and not the classes I take, referring to it as a "time card school". I then asked how much this "time card school" will cost me in the end and the rep confirmed $60,000. I then promptly removed myself from the program and discontinued my education with that institution.

I was not made aware of the costs for the program or the details of the time card system they operated on. I was reasurred in the enrollment process that since I transferred in credits from another collge (all gen eds, and electives) that my time would be shortened and my costs would not add up to the full cost of the program, but that's what would have happened if I didn't question my billing statement.

As a result I was stuck with a private education loan, which has grown due to the exteremly high interest rates assoicatiated with the loan. The school should have disclosed their credition restrictions, and their gainful employement information to consumers, which they did not. The cost of their program was no where near what someone could make in that feild, thus creating a situation where the students could not pay back their loans in their lifetime with the degrees thery earned from this institution.

I have heard many horror stories like mine and I would like to move forward in legal actions that could help me resolve the debt that Collings College inflicted on me.

Thank you so much!

I am a war vet that used the post 911 gi bill to go back to school. Upon starting the school i used my fafsa and post 911 gi bill. I told them i did not want to use my Stanford loans just my Pell grants as my gi bill would cover the tuition. While in school i was required to take war photography as one of my classes. I told them i would have trouble with this due to my ptsd. Thay said it was fine they would help me through it. Well here i am i have 2 semesters to go to get my AA and the class came up. 2 weeks into it i told them it was getting hard i needed the help. They told me i could not pursue the AA if i did not get through this class and that was the help i got. I had to drop out and put my family at risk because they would not help me through one class. Then it gets worse, after i drop out i get contacted saying my student loans were past due. Wow i look into it and guess what they used my stanford loans to pay my tuition and pocketed my post 911 payments. I talk to the school and they say they didnt use them. Now i cant get my transcript from them because they say i owe them money. All in all they take my post 911 gi bill money and i owe stanford loans because of them. Please please do not attend this school they are money hungry back stabbing people.
