We purchased a DTG viper printer from Coldesi in 2013; it has been a nightmare from the very beginning. The way they've manufactured this 20K machine is rigged. There are printing cartridges that hold no ink. They are there to trick the machine into thinking the ink comes from there. The first month we kept getting a "can't read cartridge" error we called them 5 times. They told us that the cartridges had to be replaced. However we had just purchased the machine. Of course we had to buy new cartridges; cost = $300 for the set. Problem solved for a few months. After that of course these cartridges where always having issues. Every time we called to open a ticket it would take about 5 or 6 calls to get someone on the phone. After months of this we called because of course the machine wasn't printing. They suggested we get the new Viper 2 (when we purchased the machine we specifically asked if there was a second generation machine in the works and of course they said no). The offered us 50% buy back credit for a machine that never properly worked.
We didn't want to get a new machine and they suggested we take it up to them. We are located in Homestead, FL they're located in Tampa, FL (290 miles) we had no other choice but to take it. They charged us $2k to fix the print head (that was in September 2015). In February 2015 we damaged one of the fake cartridges, we called and of course we had to take it back up (this was 2/9/16). It took them about a week to fix and $868 plus $500 in ink. When we got the machine back to our shop (3/8/16) it wasn't printing white, we called and after 7 phone calls we get one of their usual rude service techs and he tells us we need to change the printer head. He then proceeded to laugh and when we asked him what was funny about the situation especially since the machine had just been there and it was only 4 months since they had charged us $2k to change the printer heads, he told us a manager would call us.
Joe (the manager) called us and pretty much had the same attitude, throwing out chuckles, being rude and really not taking any responsibility. Their techs had flushed our machine and in the process done something to make it not print. We took the machine up for an electrical problem not a printing issue. He finally said we would need to take the machine up because he's not a technician and there was nothing he could do. The print head would cost us $800 and that was with a 10% discount.
We started to examine the machine and realized that they had disconnected the white ink line. When we called them to demand an explanation their answer was "Oh you never connected the lines back?" How where we suppose to know that or why didn't they tell us? Out of the 10 calls no one ever asked us about that. However, we were still not getting any white ink and they kept telling us it was the printer head. The finally said we are going to close out this ticket when you get ready to bring the machine back up open another ticket. After several flushes the machine finally printed white. Had we not figured that out we would have taken the machine up and been robbed another $1000.
This company is ripping people off with their sub-par machines and holding them hostage with their rigs.
