I was excited about my fence project and was pleased to see the detailed quotes I got from Coastal Outdoor Fence. After deciding on cedar wood and setting a start date of Dec 4th, Khris Brane started pushing me to put the deposit down even before we got HOA approval, which I didn’t feel right about. That was the 1st red flag that I should have seen, he’s very quick to take your money but then it went downhill from there. He has no follow through skills, he does nothing proactive in managing a project, he just leaves you hanging and has no consideration for your work schedule…he tries your patience at every step. After HOA approval, I paid 60% deposit and Khris delayed the start date til Dec 7th now due to waiting for the approval. I emailed him the land survey document in mid November and then waited a few weeks to start. Once the start date came close, I reached out to him and he delayed the start again, now Dec 14th.
On the morning of the 14th I’m on the job site and Khris said he needed the plot map to properly lay out the fence. I said I sent him the survey map weeks ago. He said he looked at it this morning and it didn’t have the side measurements he needs. WOW, he didn’t even look at my docs til the morning of our start date, only to find out he didn’t have what he needed to start. He could have told me this weeks ago but instead left me scrambling that morning calling everyone with the HOA and then having to go to the City Planning Office to get the plot map. I finally got the plot map he needed. He then tells me the 811 utilities haven’t been approved so we can’t actually start the project yet. What?! He never mentioned anything about the 811 until that morning, when we are supposed to start but guess what, we can’t start! He then sends me a text saying he senses a bit of frustration and if I'm not happy with his process, he can give my cedar wood to someone else and cancel the whole job. OMG, I was blown away with that threat to cancel my job and give my wood to someone else after all this. And then he tells me I'm impatient, whoa. Anyone would be annoyed or frustrated seeing his lack of planning and his attitude on a project like this. He ended up doing the layout early Friday the 15th and I sent him a few questions after seeing the fence line running over the water line. He didn’t respond until late Sunday night and said he was sick and that the 811 still hasn’t been approved so we can’t start on Monday. Unbelievable. At this point, yea I am totally frustrated and not happy with his process. After his threat and all these delays due to his complete lack of follow through , I had to cancel the job. I would not trust this company with any project, Khris is unprofessional and doesn’t take accountability for the many issues he creates. I’m still waiting endlessly for the refund of my 60% deposit.
