Coastal Elite Veterinary Services Reviews

My heart will never be the same, Dr Tiffany Mahalchick and Taylor a veterinarian technician came out to neuter my two healthy 2 year old and 6 month old male goats. I was very skeptical at first because dr Mahalchick told me she doesn’t band the goats due to risk of infection but she does the very invasive surgical castration which I’m sure a stitched wound would be susceptible to infection also. I asked her if there’s any chance they wouldn’t do well with this procedure because my goats mean a lot to me and I heard it’s not good to put goats under any type of sedation (first time goat owner) and she assured me it was a successful procedure. After she was finished before she left , I went to check to see how they were doing my goat house looked like something out of a horror movie, blood absolutely everywhere. She told me she cleaned up all she could. my older goat looked very lethargic and my younger one was standing up shaking. I asked her if that was normal she said yes absolutely, he would be lathargic and out of it for a few days. Me and my husband went to check on him 3 times that night up until 11pm and each time he was laying down in a different spot, looked lathargic but his head was up and after her instructions I was under the impression this was normal and didn’t think anything of it. She advised us to keep the goats locked together in thier goat house until the next day. In the morning at around 9am I went out to check on my boys and give a pain killer/anti-inflammatory she had given me to administer to them. My 2 year old goat was lying there lifeless DEAD stiff as a board I was devastated!!!! He was an extremely special goat to me and my husband and a huge part of our family. I called so upset trying to figure out why after less than 10 hours after the surgery he was DEAD! doctors responce was “well there’s always risks with surgery “ also suggested I drive my dead goat over two hours away to get a necropsy done to find out the exact cause of death, not even offering to pay for it if the findings came back her fault completely, she said “we would talk about it” that would have been another $800 on top of the $1000 I already paid her for two goat neuters and a few vaccines. I called an educated licensed vet to come see them right away instead because my younger boy was shaking and also not doing well. He gave his professional opinion that he thinks our boy who passed either lost way too much blood during the procedure or she hit a vein or artery during the procedure. He told me a neuter is a simple procedure and yes there are risks like infection etc but almost never should this result in death. my heart is absolutely broken and I would NOT suggest anyone calling any vet in this practice to even do a minor routine procedure if they love their animal. We are taking this to the fullest extent of the law. PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!
