Signed a contract to do pavers and gave him 1,000 deposit and the work was to start may 15. It been hell to get a honest answer from him or his secretary Christine. They invent all kind of excuses why the job is not going, from it's raining when it's not ,to the truck braking down on the parkway and breaching the contract and not wanted to give me my deposit back. This company is a scam.
Charles gave me an estimate for work I wanted to have performed before the summer. He was a very smooth talker as well as a gentleman until I signed a contract and gave a 10% deposit. I was then treated with the worst customer service.
The work was scheduled to start a little over a month after we had signed the contract. On the scheduled date, nobody showed up. I did not hear from Charles, a representitive, or anyone from the company. I contacted the company and was told the date was delayed due to weather (there was no heavy rain during this time period). I didn't buy the reason, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, they rescheduled for another future date and I agreed.
Needless to say, the second date was a no show, and again without any communication from him or his company. I had called the following day and was told they were behind schedule and the work would start in two weeks. At this point, I told them I wanted to cancel for lack of communication or respect for my time. The company schedules, reschedules, and push back dates without consulting the customer. Charles called me immediately because I wanted to cancel. I told him future dates conflicted with my schedule and I wanted my deposit back. His reply was there are no refunds because I am breaking the contract. I don't see how I am breaking the contract when his company did not show twice (both start dates were scheduled by him) and didn't even bother to call.
It is now 3 1/2 months after I have given Charles my deposit and I still have not been given a refund of my deposit.
I learned two valuable lessons from my encounter with Charles:
Do not take advice from one website **H***A******.com**
Visit other websites **Yelp.com** to view other reviews
There are very good contractors out there, unfortunately Charles is not one of them.
