Club-Newport Reviews
Was sold this travel ageny package and told would save so much money, easy to use concierge service, gift cards that could be bought at local stores such as Walmart and then become travel points and other empty promises. Returned to states after a cruise and attempted to use this service literally from side of Florida to the next. When they could not or would not help me, requested both through email and over the phone to cancel this service.. Was told to call Monday to further resolve issue. Monday I called and was told that had to send cancelattion in paper to their company and it was to late. Tried to resovle this issue in civilized fashion and was rudely told that I had to pay or else!!! Do not use this company! I have never known a reputable company so unwilling to work with a customer.
On approximately 06/30/2013, I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and checked into a local hotel there, and was registered with the Club Newport staff for a 90 minute sales presentation. I and a guest attended the sales presentation and was told that my boarding passes were available once we completed the sales presentation. I and my guest were boarding a three day cruise out of the Ft. Lauderdale, Fl port with Carribean Cruise Lines. Club Newport offered a VIP upgrade to all who attended this 90 minute presentation. The contract has a three day cancellation policy, and of course once you board the cruise ship the entire cancellation policy time limit expire while you are out to sea. The contract has a payment plan set up on monthly payments, and requires a deposit as a down payment that is credited tward the 1,900.00 fee for their program. The program gives the member a unconditionable guarantee to provide the lowest vacation rates available or refund you the difference. I made monthly payments of 35.00 toward the program from September, 2013 to August 2014, and was contacted by a salesperson for Club Newport, in Jacksonville, Fl. The lady salesperson stated they had upgraded the program with more benefits and rewards, and all the monies I had paid in on the old program would be credited to the new program, plus a one year membership would be credited, if I would sign up for the larger program with a additional amount due in monthly payments of 51.70 due each month with a total costs of over 3,000 dollars. They sent a e-mail for me to return as an acceptance of the increased monthly payments and amount of the new program. I did not use the program at all until June,2015 to book a short three day stay at a motel, and upon booking the reservation paid for the stay without right of cancellation in full. Upon checking out on the third day the motel furnished me a paid portofolio of the room charges which were 47.50 less than what I paid Club Newport upon booking which uses Travelocity as their source of hotel/motel bookings. I have paid more than 1200.00 in monthly payments for a program that does not stand behind it's unconditional guarantee, and still owe more than 1800.00. i have filed a Better Business Complaint and will file a complaint with the Florida Bureau of Travel, and also a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office. Sincerely, a disgruntled customer.
