I can attest to the above review, the statements mentioned, and it's full authenticity. The principal "attorney" at this small local IP firm is very difficult to deal with (really in all regards....they are always so rude on the phone, acting like it'a a pain to have to deal with their clients.) To confirm your concerns regarding the complete lack of humanity, dishonesty also plays a part. It is well known that they over-charge & over-bill (the billable hours) from her clients/customers for doing little to no "work." She does so by utilizing her grand scheme of skills (manipulation!) She does so by expressing irrational behavior which also occurs in front of others and behind closed doors with no regard to the firm's specific clients needs. In my opinion, for what it's worth, difficult & unreasonable people are not worth the awful hassle, stress, and I would most definitely rather give my hard earned business to a reputable well-recognized & proper legal practice. Rita was one of the worst human beings I have ever come across working with... Definitely a good thing, I decided to get my trademark & patent filed elsewhere.
Over charging. Condescending. Did not complete the tasks specified within the agreement. She over charged me roughly 3k in one month when no work was performed nor required and can be proven. She was also confronted and insisted the 3k was owed regardless of what I said or showed her.. I believe 14 thousand dollars was more than enough to complete the entire engagement agreement. The only tasks she performed was; reviewing applications, rewritten claims as well as respond to the examiner which she responded every six months ensuring I would pay larger USPTO fees instead of responding within the 3 months given under USPTO guidelines before being charged additional fees to respond. Her opinions of being a competent lawyer is simply her opinion as stated in her agreement. This is a fact: she has been fired the very instant the POWER of Attorney duties have been removed from her Meanwhile, she insulted me (HER BOSS) and my abilities to communicate with her or her employees by forcing me to alter my unique personality to suit her own determind opinion of what is construed as being professional. I payed her 14 thousand dollars for a CIP application that she never worked on and she is threatening to put me in collections for a 6 thousand dollar balance I don't owe her or her firm.
