Chicago Tank Removal Reviews
Two workers showed up on time. Emptied 200 gallons of oil from tank in crawl. Began to saw the huge tank apart and cut a water pipe in two. They quickly went to their truck to get a pump and began to pump out the water until our town's public works could shut off the water to the house. The workers were extremely apologetic and called their employer to let him know the situation.
I called David Streich, the owner, to find out how his company was going to remedy the issue. Instead of trying to make things right, Mr. Streich stated that his contract is structured in a way that gives him and his workers no liability for any damage they cause. He immediately expressed this attitude after 30 seconds of discussion. He said if we didn't fully pay for the job, he would place a lien on our home and we will be taken to court.
I asked him to quit making useless threats and talk this through like an adult. I have never experienced a contractor who gave such poor customer service. His workers made a mistake and the OWNER of the company went off on me like it was my fault. After, several phone calls and more threats by him, we came to an agreement that he would pay $300 to have the pipe repaired.
As I am not a plumber, I had no idea how much it would cost to fix the pipe. I told him I had to talk to my husband about this situation. Meanwhile, a plumber was called and would arrive approximately an hour after Chicago Tank was finished with the job. Mr Streich called me back and again became belligerent and told me his offer was off the table if I did not pay his workers as they completed the job and were ready to leave. I told him that I would not pay him until the plumber gave me an estimate. He told me he would see me in court and hung up.
Meanwhile, the plumber arrived and he estimated it would cost $600 to repair. As I wanted this nightmare to be over, I called Mr. Streich back and we split the cost of the repair. In hindsight, it was stupid of me not to get the entire repair cost. I was just so taken aback by the way I was treated during this entire process, I just wanted to get out of the situation and NEVER do business with this guy again.
I feel extremely sorry for his employees. With his volatile personality I am not sure if they still have a job. NEVER, EVER hire Chicago Tank Removal.
