Do not work for this company! During the interview, the job description sounds promising and appealing I was told that I was going to be selling "electronics", it was not until my third interview I was informed I was going to be selling Direct T.V, and I was never informed that I was going to be traveling from store to store, at least and hour from my home. I was promised the highest base pay on top of the highest commission possible because of my background work experience. I was excited that I was going to start a new promising career. My first day everyone seemed nice and helpful. After that, it went downhill. You are expected to learn everything about the company and the selling techniques they use in just two days. If you do not know something,(especially something you haven't been taught)you are instantly degraded. Working 6 days a week traveling to different stores that are usually an hour and a half away from your home, not to mention the tolls and gas that goes along with the travel that you are not reimbursed for. In fact, i was not payed at all. No direct deposit, no check, nothing! I was told in my interview I was going to be payed 2 weeks after my first day. I questioned it after two weeks had gone by and still no pay check. It has been a month and they are just now telling me my check is in the office, mind you the month that I worked at this disgraceful business they are only paying me $40. I am never one to complain or write a review let alone a negative review on a place of business, after reading the other reviews I realized I am not alone. I just want to make everyone aware that this place is a scam, they will lie to you, degrade you, and not pay you. If you have bills to pay, I highly suggest you do not work here. Hoping my review makes a difference, these people need to get caught.
Where to even begin. The CEO Jacob Cline & His Fiance, Sophia O'Leary, Who is the "HR Manager" (unqualified, unprofessional, has zero class & got her degree from Devry) are all out for themselves.
They profit all the income and do not pay their employees properly. If you are in sales you will be working 6 days a week including weekends and get paid only $10.00 an hourly + commission selling direct tv.
If you are in the home office you will easily work about 60-65 hour weeks and when you do the math you are getting paid at a base salary that is extremely low with no overtime, bonuses or incentives. They treat their employees like slaves, do not show any appreciation.
Do not let the social media fool you. They do "team nights" or "dinners" just for social media purposes to take pictures and act like they actually care. It is all a complete scheme to appeal to potnetial employees inviting them to think that this is a well rounded, friendly enviroment for one to work in.
The "HR Manager" brags about how much her car is, her house, her clothes, how much money her and the CEO make. She pushes her wealth in your face and belittles you. She on numerous ocassions has made fun of other employees, malcious gossips about the girls from different offices and has made numerous crude marks in front of her employees who work for her. She will purposely find a way to fire you if she feels threatened by you, she has fired numerous girls before for ridiculous reasons just so she can look like the "Star Employee" in the office.
The CEO is just as spineless and mean as her. He wll yell at employees in front of others. Make rude remarks, make fun of others and degrade their intelligence level. He bullies others & is often at times not very pleasant to be around.
Overall just not nice people to do buisness with or to work for.
The company is completely based on lies. The CEO will lie to your face if it would make him an extra penny. He uses employees for personal gain, and will go so far so to "befriend" people just to better his own situation. He will lie about pay, he will lower an employees' wage after they put in their two weeks notice (which is completely illegal).
They post deceitful job ads, claiming they offer a salary, when they only offer an hourly wage. There are no benefits, there is no PTO, and they expect you to work 6 days a week.
They offer a false sense of opportunity, because the only people who get promoted not only have to do well selling in a retail store (that is the only position they post ads for and initially hire into) they also have to suck up to the CEO and his unprofessional, unqualified girlfriend that somehow gained the title "HR Manager". The CEO and his girlfriend act like the law doesn't apply to them, and continue to build a false image of the company - reiterated through fake Glassdoor reviews and lies on their website and job ads.
Stay away from this company - hopefully they get caught for their illegal actions soon, and do everyone a favor by going out of business.
Chicago Marketing, Inc. is part of a bigger company called Smart Circle. When managed well you have a great opportunity to move up and own your own business. Unfortunatley if the CEO and his now fiancee feel threatened by you they will do everything in their power to keep you down or simply fire you. (Upon employment you are forced to sign an agreement that you are working "at will" and can be terminated for any reason)
I have heard blatant lies come from their mouths about other employees. There is a false sense of security, friendlieness, and acceptance is amazing. If they don't like you they will do what they can to bring you down--I saw them close down offices to "retrain" without real grounds for it, fire people for blantant lies, and overall ruin peoples careers and lies.
To some people this was/is another job. I wanted a new career and had no chance for advancement becuase everytime I got close it was sabotaged and it took me months to realize it.
If you're into brainwashing, manipulation, working without getting paid for each hour you work, or not getting reimbursed for a company work trip this is the place for you!
