Cherry Hill Estate Sales Reviews
BEWARE of Cherry Hill Estate Sales and Auctions and its owners Lynda and Richard Lastinger!!!!!
I signed a contract with Cherry Hill estate Sales to conduct an estate sale in May 2016. Lynda Lastinger assured me they were "professionals" and would take care of everything and I did not need to worry about anything. Almost the entire contents of the house and 2 vintage cars were sold at the sale. The contract provided that I would get 70% of the proceeds. It has been 4 months and I have not received any payment. I contacted Lynda several times and received a number of excuses and "the check is in the mail" promises, but they have not paid me anything! Now there is no response to calls, texts or email. They did not respond to my complaint to the BBB and are now being investigated by the State of Georgia. From the number of complaints I have seen on various sites since this happened, they appear to be "professional" crooks!
Let me give you a run down of our experience with Cherry Hill Estate Sales.
In the beginning Lynda Lastinger was as nice and accommodating as she could be. You couldn't ask for a more efficient , responsible professional representative.
As per a signed contract they (Cherry Hill) ran a three day estate sale for my deceased father's estate consisting of a house full of furniture, dishes, china, glassware, linens, etc. along with a shop building containing tools and wood.
Upon visiting the house after the sale, it was empty of contents. There were a couple of wall gouges, scrapes and drag marks across the linoleum in the kitchen along with a large mysterious spot in the middle of the floor.
Lynda verbally reported the estimated intake was approximately eight thousand dollars. After the sale, Lynda wouldn't return phone calls and we heard nothing from her until early December. Nothing, no accounting, no check, no communication. I called on a different number and said I was interested in an estate sale. This call she did return. When I mentioned the sale and that we'd had no contact she acted puzzled and said she'd get back with us in a week. After a bit more than a week I called again along with some messages on Cherry Hill's facebook page (now comment disabled). Lynda claimed to have mailed a check in early August along with the keys to the shop in back. Why they couldn't have left the keys at the house remains a mystery and the source of a major headache. The check must have gotten lost in the mail. This seems to happen a lot with Cherry Hill Estate sales. Where was that responsible professional we had dealt with earlier?
To my surprise they had taken in almost $9,500 which was a good thing because after Lynda's accounting the estate netted $261.45. Yes, you read that right, two hundred sixty one dollars and forty five cents. Cherry Hill finally sent us a receipt where they spent over $1000.00 on three dumpsters. There shouldn't have been enough debris in the house to warrant this. Neither should it have taken, as she claimed 8 people 15 hours to clean up the house afterwards. We never received any kind of accounting as contractually promised nor at this point a check.
I told Lynda in an email she needed to check her math as she charged us 45% commission rather than the 40% stated in the contract. No response yet. The cleaning fee including the rental of three dumpsters was $4512.50. This didn't include mopping the kitchen floor which had many drag marks and a large spot. This is the kind of honestly and service you can expect when you hire this company. She wrote that it took eight people fifteen hours to clean up after the sale. This was an ordinary 2500 sq ft suburban house and they had supposedly sold the contents. Does this sound remotely plausible to you?
We have not been dealt with honestly or ethically by Cherry Hill Estate Sales and I certainly hope no one will enter into any business dealings with them without every caution. Please realize the caliber of people you're dealing with if you chose them. Just because they promise something does not mean they will do Their contract seems only to apply to the customer not the company. BEWARE!
