Do not even test them out, they have hidden charges.
I looked up my info and others' info and the info was wildly wrong, says stuff about me that isn't true, if someone used their service and looked me up they would have someone else's info and look at me differently. Also was missing almost all important info about a person, each time I searched. I gave them a chance and looked up other info and the same deal.
I canceled a few days later online, sent them msgs I wanted a refund and they ignored me. Several days later I finally was able to call and the guy Steve was nice but when I explained what was going on they couldn't do anything, also the couple charges of like $3.99 and $6.99 were not even considered for a refund, because I had kept them a couple of days they only would give me a 50% refund. I told him fine I will be writing horrible reviews on every site because you are a scam.
They want your money and are not legit. This is a scam.
I signed up with CHECKPEOPLE.COM to help in my genealogy. I signed for the initial trial period. First they charged me my trial rate plus a month I hadn't agreed to. When I called them to complain they refunded my monthly charge. When I complained I was not finding the information i was looking for and, indeed, had found numerous errors and wanted to cancel completely i was told that for an addition charge I would get better information.
I could still opt out before the end of my trial period and be refunded. An example of the erroneous information was them listing my deceased father-in-law, who has been dead for at least 15 years, as having lived at two addresses in Missouri. My father-in-law was NEVER at either on of those addresses. Honestly, I had scrounge up more pertinent information on my subjects just using Google. I called to cancel completely and was reassured all would be well.
Then I received THREE charges to my bank from this company. I immediately called them only to be told these were legit charges and they could not reimburse them. I will NEVER deal with this company again. Their information is fraudulent and they lie about their charges. Do not deal with them.
This company offers free which turns into $1 then !.95 then 44.95..... too much fine print. I called for reimbursement. Didn't use of ther services. I was outside the trial "window" lost in fine print..one day late.. they said "we will cancel your account but no refund." Lots of staged confusing answers. I disputed it with my CC company. AND NO INFO AT ALL!!
IN an attempt to get information on weapons carry laws in states I'll be going through an interesting pop up sugested to have a background check on yourself. That sounds reasonable however it's just another tool used by a variety of these $1.00 offers for 5 days and jumps to $45.99 every month thereafter. I was willing to try Check People and filled out all the information needed to get a report on myself only and would have canceled within a couple hours.
After all the information was given I clicked on the bar stating recieve your information. Several minutes passed and a few clicks forward, backwards and refresh nothing worked. I was getting a notice that the cookies on the page were too large to continue. That's it, a blank page. I then went to my bank account to check if the money was processed. Yes it was. I called the 800 number and talked to a rep. She said no problem, I think with an accent, we can cancel your membership.
I said what about my $1.00. Surprise, non refundable was her response. She then asked what was i looking for that maybe she could bring it up and send it to me. I said no thanks, once I have a problem downloading on the very first transaction I will not trust the company. Long story short, they got their buck and I got nothing except a waste of time, 2 hours now, and a bad start for the day.
This is a total Scam, I was looking for a criminal history on a person and paid 1.00 to register and get the report. The report online for this person was long and had many duplicate listings for the same offense which caused much confusion and made it look longer than it really was. There is then a link to download the report to your computer or on your phone through their app which I was using. The app would not download the report and I am glad I have notifications from my bank when charges are made because they charged me 1.95 for the download that I did not get. When I called about the charge and not getting the download the representative proceeded to tell me that the downloads don't always work on phones and they recommend using a computer (then why do they offer a link to download on the app) I asked her and she could not give me an answer. I also asked how come they did not say on the website or app that I had to pay for the download for which she again had no answer. The representative then proceeded to tell me that the 1.00 registration fee was only a trial and that my card would be bill 19.95 a month after 14 days and again this was not told to me by the website when I signed up. So there are 2 hidden charging points they do not tell you about. 3 days later I am looking at my bank account and see that I have a charge on my account for 3 cents and 2 cents as international transfer fees for the two charges made on my card and in addition my bank charged me a 6.95 analysis fee because these charges were international which I did not know or I would not have made these purchases in the first place since I already knew of my banks fees. Don't get caught in this scam!
