Cell Brokerage, LLC Reviews

Grip Cell Brokerage, LLC is a scam.

After years of paying into their insurance, I filed a claim. You must pay a $200 deductable for a new phone and I paid the money. In return, they couriered me a refurbished, still-broke iPhone that wouldn't allow you to press certain letters and numbers (having to press the same number 3-15 times for the letter to appear.) I complained and sent it back. The next cell phone they sent me was another refurbished and still-broke iphone with a flickering screen.

Since I had a major trade show coming up (where a cell phone is essential), I told them I wanted my $200 deductable back and went to my cell phone provider to buy a new phone. Turns out I could get an upgrade to the latest and greatest iPhone 7 for only $300 brand new in an upgrade.

Why would you pay a $200 deductable for a poorly, run company like this that sends out garbage replacement refurbished iPhones that aren't even repaired when you can get an upgrade and newer version for $300?

To add fuel to the fire, I asked them to cancel my insurance. They wouldn't stop taking money off my credit card, so I had to shut the credit card down and get a new one.

This company needs to be investigated and shut down for the scam it is.

I was a phone proctection policy holder for ~17 months and paid on time every month. I never had any claims submitted during that time. My credit card on file expired and my policy was suspended for a couple months. I contacted them to re-instate the policy with a new credit card and they did. They even back billed me for the months I missed. I was again an active policy holder and soon after had a claim to submit for an accidental cracked screen on my phone. They responded to my claim by cancelling the active policy and saying they didn't mean to have it re-instated, it was a mistake. It was not a mistake, I actually was in email contact with them and they even went back to collect monthly premiums for missed payments. This was no accident, they will take money when given the chance.

July 18, 2014 purchaed three cell hone insurance coveragses at $8.99 each.

January 1, 2015 sold one cell phone and discontinued coverage as follows:

1) Samsung Galaxy 5/black, discontinued insurance coverage due to selling phone January, 2015

2) Samsung Galaxy 5/white, uninterrupted insurance coverage.

3) Flip phone Motorola, discontinued insurance, August, 2014, coverage, phone not useable.

Insurance premiums: $8.99 per month per phone, alhtough phones were not equal in value, therefore, I was being overcharged for insurance coverages on 15 year old flip phone!

Main complaint regarding Samsung Galaxy 5 White phone:

July 30, 2015: Midnight, phone was accidentally run over by neighbor's auto.

July 31, 2015: Phone GRIP to submit claim. Rep said, "Unfortunately no coverage, you cancelled white phone January, 2015." (I phoned GRIP from my Verizon store where I purchased phone. Verizon said my coverage WAS current, that GRIP was incorrect) After arguing with GRIP for 35 minutes I threatened to phone Attorney General, BBB & Channel 3 news)

GRIP placed me on hold for over 20 minutes after I asked to speak with supervisor. Supervisor never came on line, Rep said they 'fixed' the problem and my phone would be delivered in three days. I asked where was the 24 hour guarantee. They said only on working days will they guarantee overnight delivery. (I was also going out of town and would not be at my physical address for delivery) After I objected, AGAIN, GRIP offered to deliver on Saturday, August 1.. BUT I would have to pay an extra $26.00 for Saturday delivery. I paid the extra $26.00. Upon GRIP'S instructions I was to STAY at home all day in order to not miss the delivery. By 7:00 p.m. the phone was not delivered. I had to leave for the airport at 3:00 a.m. August 2nd. GRIP advised it was my responbility to communicate to UPS what state the phone should be delivered! I protested again.

GRIP finally said they would mail to destination address by Sunday, August 2nd. Today is Monday, August 3rd. I tracked my phone and UPS will not deliver until Tuesday, August 4th. We shall see. What happened to the 24 hour overnight guarantee?

Fraudulent advertising, broken promises...unethical practices created delays and havoc in my business life. Cancelling coverage as soon as I receive my phone. Would like to have $100 deductible returned for broken promises.
